Nice spacious place, close to the shorePosted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: Clean, well priced, and close to a well stocked grocery store.
Cons: Full speed unrestricted internet access would be the best improvement.
Location: There is a grocery store very close by (1min drive). Hapuna Beach Park is less than 15min driving away - great beach, but there is a $5 parking fee.
We had a great experience at Paniolo Greens. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were well maintained. The villa layout was very nice - we particularly liked that there were 3 showers for 2 bedrooms. Kitchen was well equipped. A shared grill was close by. Air conditioning worked great. Internet was free but slow and restricted to email - you could not stream movies, for example (a public computer was available in the office, with a somewhat better connection and a printer - good enough for doing the airline checkin). There was cable TV in the bedrooms and the living room. All in all, a great place and we would not hesitate staying there again.

Okay for inexpensive, quick stayPosted Nov 27, 2013
Pros: Pool area, nice launching place to visit Hilo.
Cons: A bottle opener in the kitchen would have been nice. Maybe a warning about early morning mowing, and an offer of earplugs, too.
We had a one bedroom. The bathroom is inside the bedroom door, so a bit odd for a third person to access. My main reason for an "okay" rating is that being on the golf course, the mowing started at 5:30 a.m. ... a bit too early for us. Nice pool area and activities, though, and fine for a short stay.

A great self catering unit. Better than home.Posted Nov 27, 2013
Pros: Quite and very convenient to both sides of the Island.Every facility is close by
Cons: Water pressure
Location: You will need a car. Anything on the Island is accessable in a day from this point.

Pros: This was an amazing find and awesome resort! Great location and amenities, in suite laundry, pre-arranged parking and security.

Spacious unit and great locationPosted Nov 8, 2013
Cons: Furnishings could be updated, but nothing is over-worn.
Location: World-class beaches, 10-15 drive away. Golf on-premise. Access road to Mauna Kea observatory is also close. Central location to everything west side.
Lots of room to spread out. Very well equipped kitchen with plenty of dish- and cooking ware. The unit has a dishwasher, washer, and dryer, as well as the dishwasher and laundry detergent. Great deck with table, and it overlooks golf course. Very convenient, but tasteful, outdoor shopping center is a 2-minute drive, or 10-minute walk away. Good food and coffee at Java Café. Also a Subway sandwich shop, a Mexican food stand, a Thai food stand, an Italian restaurant, and a supermarket. Very convenient.

Nice hotel for a big groupPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Very quiet, clean and all facilities available.
Cons: Can't think of anything!
Location: This is the catch :( Rent a 4-wheel drive to go around. If you hate to drive, this hotel is not for you.
Firstly I would like to mention the reason as to why I gave an overall rating of 3. We booked this hotel as we got a great deal. But once we got there, we realized its in the middle of nowhere (volcanic rocks desert all around). Since it was just my husband and myself, it was a little depressing on the first day. But at night we could gaze at millions of stars which I had never experienced ever before. Drive to the downtown area or other places are quite taxing and time consuming. I preferred the Hilo side since I wanted to hike more than spend time in waters. The beaches in North Kona are dangerous to swim in. But there are beaches in the downtown area where you can snorkel and dive. Overall the stay was great. Ambiance was good, the golf course was amazing. Rooms and bed were clean. Kitchen amenities provided for and they even had a washing machine which was very useful. Like my title says, its only meant for a big group.

Large condo. Good location.Posted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: The unit had a spacious deck with dining table, and it overlooked the golf course. It was fantastic for evening meals.
Cons: Decor could be more modern, but perhaps it's a question of taste.
It was great to have space to spread out. The unit has a fully equipped kitchen, equipped with a dishwasher. It also has a washing machine and dryer in the unit. It came in very handy after several nights in hotels prior to the condo stay. There is a marketplace with a supermarket and several restaurants within a 2 minute drive, or 10 minute walk.

Surprisingly good dealPosted Oct 31, 2013
While on our vacation we decided to change our plans and spend an extra day on the east side of the island we booked paniolo greens. The room was very spacious and everything was very clean with lots of reasonably priced amenities nearby. It's not quite on the beach but it's only about a 15 minute drive to get there. Definitely well worth the money if you don't mind a little drive.
