The location and the room were great.Posted Feb 3, 2014
It is a great location and the lodge has great potential. The managers do a wonderful job, but the owner is trying too hard to save money and that shows in many different ways. It was very cold and the only heat was a plug in heater. We were never able to warm the room. Furniture and fixtures are beginning to wear. But having said all that, we would definitely stay there again. The staff, the location, and the room itself were perfect.

Nice hotel hard to findPosted Jan 24, 2014
Pros: Very quiet, staff very friendly
Cons: Signs out front
Location: Volcano national park entrance very close by.
Arriving at night the entrance did not have reflective or electric signs. The entrance looked like a private home's driveway. Once found, the staff was very pleasant, the room was clean and very roomy.

Good location - but....Posted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: Proximity to the park.
Cons: Either green-sourcing electricity or removal of verbiage about electricity cost.
Location: Hikes and night-time sightings at the park are only enjoyed comfortably by staying nearby.
This hotel is very close to Volcano National Park, and being close to the park is essential to maximally enjoy interesting explorations there. However, the discouragement to using electricity, hot water, in room refrigerator due to its cost in this region should not have been part of the package paid for.

Pros: close to Park, Carlos is a wonderful inn keeper and the place was obviouly well kept and spotlessly clean
Location: National Park is 10 minutes away. Lunch and Dinner places are also close by. Hilo is 26 miles away.
3 days and 2 nights for a wonderful experience!! Great breakfasts to include Belgium waffles one morning. Carlos is a personality not to be missed who is gracious and welcoming who will jump to you every need. Rooms are spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Free wifi also. Close to the Nat’l Park. You cannot go wrong in booking this Volcano Forest Inn Bed and Breakfast. My husband and I have been blessed to travel all over the world and have stayed in many inns, hotels, motels and B&B's. This place is just flat great and comfortable.
This is a B&B...didn't realize that til I arrivedPosted Jul 31, 2013
Cons: Hard to find - need a bigger sign and paved driveway. Bed felt cheap. Wireless Internet wasn't working.
I think it should be noted in the description that this is a bed and breakfast. It's basically a large house and one of the tricks is finding it. There is a small sign next to a dirt road aka driveway. I really thought I was in the wrong place but when I drove about 200 yards down the one lane gravel "path" there was the house. The house was recently built so everything was nice inside. The room was huge with a lot of empty space. The manager was friendly, talkative...and "interesting." Bottom line in Volcano there aren't many options so it's not a bad choice...I just would pick a different place next time...although I will probably never spend the night in Volcano again anyway.

Perfect for exploring Volcano National ParkPosted May 26, 2013
Very clean and well maintained bed and breakfast. We stayed for 2 nights to explore volcano national park and the proximity to the park was awesome. Breakfast both mornings was unique and delicious. A great place to stay at a great price!

Ok near volcanoPosted Apr 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel had no locks on rooms and breakfast wasn't really much. You cant drink the tap water, bur cooler in kitchen. Not sure if typical of all volcano area accommodations. Convenient to volcano.
