Timeshare he'llPosted Jan 24, 2014
I thought I was staying at a hotel, and I was wrong. From the moment I checked in, every staff interaction was geared toward selling me a timeshare. We were really disappointed by this...if you are the type of person who has a hard time saying NO then you will walk away much lighter in the wallet. Other than that, the property was very nice and the area is great. Lots of activities but again hotel staff try to upsell you here...save yourself some money and buy online. Only negative on the room is the air conditioner shuts off when you're gone so it's always hot when you return. Overall: 4/5 for the property itself 1/5 for the staff and management

Overall not great experiencePosted Dec 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
Really disappointed that this ended up being more of a time share situation. In addition, they gave us the handicapped room which has some positives but the bathroom shower was more like a locker room shower and had a rusty handicap chair inside which limited the already small space. The kitchen was adequate and had a few updates. The lanai was a good size and had a decent view of the ocean. We were close to the elevators but right above the registration and timeshare area which lead to some noise. Also, multiple mornings before 7 am there were kids playing ping pong right below our room and no one did anything about it. Quiet hours were supposed to be until 7 am every morning. Pool was quite a distance away but one with the club house was a lot bigger and not as busy most days. Had to deal with the typical time share run around where they call and leave notes until you tell them you are 100% not interested. Only about 1 mile from the main drag of Kailua and good neighborhood nearby. Nice to have covered parking and easy access to the lot.

Great size rooms for FamillyPosted Feb 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
First time to Kona. Loved the island so many things to see and do. Great place to stay. Rooms large and cleam. Distance to down town around 2 km. Definately need a vehicle to drive to beaches etc. Would have been nice if resort had a resturant on site or small bar. Pools were clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Would definately recommend to friends and family.

hotel or timeshare?Posted Jan 2, 2013
Cons: Timeshare. .timeshare and more timeshares
Not a hotel, but timeshare. There was no service like breakfast, or the usual hotel stuff, and they push you really hard to buy timeshares. If you turn down their introduction to timeshare sales (1.5hrs) They have an island orientation seminar, which is just an excuse to sell you time shares. They will then call you three times to try to sell you time shares. They will leaflet you under the door. Hence it really is best to avoid their reception area. That being said, the room was nice, big and quiet. And we got hit with a timeshare tax when we checked out, so beware.
