"Great hotel, good location, terrible parking."
If we arrived back at the hotel before 8 or so we didn't have problems parking, past that was a gamble... made worse by the layout of the parking lot with dead end paths and one-way roads. Great hotel otherwise though!

"Great view from the Lanai,"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Coffee and water at the desk was very much appreciated. Even though there was a fire alarm episode the staff was calm and thoughtful. A special thanks to Cheryl, Allison and our night security man !!!!

"lovely tranquil spot near the Volcano National Par"
Warmly greeted by Ashley who toured us through our room, and informed us about the grounds. The complex is beautifully groomed with lovely outdoor areas to walk and enjoy. The new gazebo house is a perfect spot for an early riser to enjoy coffee and emails without disturbing anyone....it is a charming space.

"Nice hotel no beach but a nice pool."
We had a great experience hotel staff was friendly got checked in right away. We stayed in a standard hotel room bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom tub was out dated but no big deal. We had a refrigerator in the room which was nice but no microwave some days that would of came in handy. The pool was a nice relaxing area with floating bean bags to sit on at no extra charge. They have a bar/ restaurant that is open daily from 11-5:30 served good food and beverages you can sit and relax at the pool and they just come and wait on you. The hotel has a breakfast buffet that was awesome little spendy $25 a person was nice to splurge a couple times on it. Over all was a good experience and would recommend to a friend and would return to stay.

"Best place in Kona"
Great location. Breakfasts at Splash was great. Sorry the hotel has no back pool, back overlook. We missed Tantes, but see it is totally closed. Changes all the time. Rooms are very comfortable, but a little difficult to control the air conditioning. Hope to come again. We tell people about Kona Seaside as it is such a great location and fair prices. Thanks.

"The Big Island (Kona) Experience"
The Kona Coast Resort is fabulous. It is in a great position - by the sea, within walking distance from a very convenient and small shopping centre. Staff are very helpful and friendly - will do anything for you. The grounds are immaculate, the pools located within easy reach of any part of the complex and there is good security in the complex which are fairly inconspicuous. We felt very safe at any time of the day or night. The most difficult part of our trip was the public transport system, which is fabulous but infrequent. Costs $2 to $2.50 to go anywhere by buses and trolley. The trolley goes to the main parts of Kona and is fun. If you want to travel across the island, you need to get a bus which is still $2 or $2.50, or take a tour which will pick you up at your resort, or hire a car. The weather was great even though it was winter. We drove past snow up on the mountains and it was warm down on the coast. It only takes a half a day to drive round the island or a full day if you stop off at a lot of places. We saw whales spouting just off the coast, went to outlets that sold macadamia "everything" and swam at lots of different beaches, some of which had turtles swimming with us. Great place to holiday, especially if you like the outdoors.

    Where to stay in Hawaii

    Big Island Hotel Guide

Richardson’s Ocean Park - Head the black-sand beaches of Richardson’s Ocean Park. This spot in the Hilo region boasts rock pools and surf spots. Kids can play in the pools, which are protected by a natural seawall, while experienced surfers can shred up the break. Don’t miss a tour of the Richardson family home, which was built along the shore in the 1920s.

Akaka Falls - The Akaka Falls State Park features two of Hawaii’s most noteworthy waterfalls: Kahuna Falls and Akaka Falls. Kahuna Falls is 100-feet tall, while Akaka Falls is an impressive 442 feet. Visitors can walk along the half-mile paved trail to arrive at these majestic waterfalls in the middle of the rain forest.
