“Room way nicer than the walk up”

So this is an old 2-story motel on the outside that looks like it's getting a gradual face-lift on the inside. The stairs up were rusted w/ chipped paint, but our room was clean & comfy, with a nice bathroom. AC worked a bit too well--on the lowest setting, it felt a bit like a walk-in freezer, but that beat the alternative (no air on a hot Kansas night). They had hot coffee at 8pm when we arrived, and the morning breakfast was respectable, too. We chose them over other because they allow pets; and with their friendly staff we'd sure stay there again!

“Noisy, unclean, but pleasant staff”

For $70 this hotel seemed like a good deal, but it was a disappointment. The bathroom wasn't clean and there were several bugs. There was loud banging noises throughout the night and a few bulbs were out. Fortunately the staff was nice and the breakfast was good.

“Great for the price”

Although the motel is close to the interstate, our room was quiet from the road noise. This is an old motel that has been updated, but they did a good job. The beds were new, clean, comfortable, great bathroom with decent towels, clean rug and nicely painted. Our only complaint was that the AC was noisy. They need to update the units. Over all, a 4+ for the money. We will go back.

“Stopping on the way to OZ!!”

We were traveling from Denver to Pittsburgh with an 11 month old baby and knew we would be stopping in Hayes because we were going to stop and see some sites (the largest ball of twine and also the Oz museum.lol) I didn't want to spend a ton of money, yet we wanted a nice clean place to stop. We found it!! Will be using this hotel again if I drive back again. Thank you

Area recommendations

If you get off the beaten path (I 70), to see some of the sites, this hotel is a great stop over! It goes right up to 24 and 24 is an EXCELLENT route to take if you get bored by the lack of sites on I 70. It's beautiful but you really don't lose time by having to go slower. I was very happy. We took 24 all the way to Topeka. I would do it again even if I wasn't site seeing.

“Good Night Sleep”

Excellent location, close to many restaurants, gas station and other amenities. Room was very clean and beds were comfortable, shower was great, no complaints. Oh and the lady at the front desk was a total sweetheart! Great place to get a good nights sleep!

Its all good out here, but Hays is a nice place and the people are very friendly, especially at iHop! ;-)

“not impressed”

Hotel was very dirty. Mold on the shower curtain and dirty walls. Clearly we could tell the room was NOT CLEANED well for a long time. Our toilet would not flush half of the time. It kept coming off the chain. I had to take the back of the lid off and reach in the dirty water and hook the chain back up at least 3-4 times. We felt we were in need of a DISCOUNT.

“very satisfied”

Room better than expected for the money -fine for overnight, clean, very comfortable bed, great breakfast with waffles and biscuits and gravy. Front desk ladies very helpful. Will definitely stay there again. Conveniently located right next to highway but road noise not a problem at all. Recommend the Sternberg Museum if there is time. It is very well done.
