Not impressedPosted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Arrived at 8 pm and lobby was locked. No one was ever at the desk had to use courtesy phone to get let in, needed wifi password had to use courtesy phone again. No one at the desk to check out in the morning. Went to get coffee in the morning as there was suppose to be free breakfast but found out breakfast is cereal and the coffee you have to make. Same kind of coffee pot you would use at home. Finally got the room door shut, we thought that you a while we would have to brace a chair against it for the night. Drive further down the road to find a place.

We did not feel safe here. The dead-bolt did not work; plus we had great difficulty opening it from the inside. The towels/face cloth bled dye!! Suspect formerly white towels were dyed to make look new. Continental breakfast very sparse compared to our other stays. Front desk staff not very helpful.

Dreadful HotelPosted Jul 26, 2013
Cons: Where it appeared the doors had been forced open on numerous occassions
Location: Same area as other hotels/motels that were beautiful.
Never stayed in Hearst overnight. Thought I would go with a name I've known over the years, being Howard Johnson. Big mistake. Walked up to another hotel in the area and had my supper. Beautiful spot. Never again will I go near the Howard Johnson in Hearst. Should be closed And to think Expedia has a connection with this hotel, allowing people to book through Expedia. Wow Eye opener!

Very poorly maintained and not cleanPosted Jul 9, 2013
Cons: I would have given cleanliness a rating of zero, if available.
Room could have been quite comfortable if it weren't for the filthy state of the room when we arrived. The carpet had many stains, as did some blankets on the bed. The bathroom was reasonably clean but we found rings on the bedside table from a drink that had not been cleaned up and it had hair stuck in it. Breakfast area was a joke - only toast and cereal available - and you they had communal jars of jam and peanut butter than everyone had to dig their knifes into. The dish towel in the area was filthy. We were very uncomfortable eating in this area.

Lots of noise each morning at 6:00amPosted Jun 29, 2013
Pros: price and location
Cons: the monthly customers planning their day very loudly in front of our doors each morning
Location: Very central, good location
The hotel was well located but needs more repairs, the tiles in the bathroom were broken with no grout in between the tiles, phone was broken and made a beep all night long so I disconnected it. Some of the tenants work for the CNR and live there by the weeks or month. They leave for work at 6am and make a rockus [lots of noise and talking outside and plan their days in front of our doors, every morning. I complained but they need the revenues so nothing can be done. They start making noise at 6am, very loud and the maid takes over with loud talk at 7am so no sleeping after 6am. I found it difficult to cope with. The price was very good and location also. I probably will not go again unless they put me very far from the monthly guys.
