Visiting Alpine Helen, Ga

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: easy access
Cons: breakfast
Location: walking distance to everthing in town. To enjoy don't go on holiday weekends if possible. Parking and driving will be unbearable.
the experience was very good. the hotel accommendations were acceptable, there was no buffet breakfast. We had sausage, eggs and gravy buscuits. the stay there was good, with Bavarian food, beer and shopping. I will return and stay at the Best Westen Inn, in a suite next time.

Hiking Mt Yonah

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: Convenient to all attractions and areas of interesr for us.
Cons: Nothing that I can see, hotel was perfect.
Location: Helen is a tourist mecca with water tubing, zip lines, gem mining, restaurants, wineries, etc. also is the center for tent camping, and hiking.
After driving for 10 hours from Florida, it ws a nice surprise to have a room as nice and convenient to everything around town. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Stayed one night and the returned five days later to stay again.

Nice hotel, good view of the lake

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Reasonable price compared to other hotels in the area
Location: There are a lot of hiking trails, waterfalls and outdoor activities close by.
Hotel was nice, if you stay on the lake side of the hotel, you have a great view looking up the lake. It has a neat, rustic lobby and a covered area with rocking chairs, so you can sit and look over the lake and at the distant mountains.

Mini vacation

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Room size, convenience to area attractions and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast.
Cons: Found the bathroom very tight but clean.
Location: Good location for walking to area attractions, tubing, golf, shopping and restaurants.
Our daughter and granddaughters were visiting us for 3 weeks, prompting us to take a mini break in the middle of their stay. They enjoyed being within walking distance of river tubing, golf and restaurants. The room was large enough for the three of them not to feel too confined and they enjoyed the pool. The staff was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay and would return to the same hotel.

I have stayed at Best Western before and was always satisfied. This stay I was highly disappointed. There was hardly any breakfast to eat on Saturday. There were no eggs, sausage, toast, bagels. This was at 9:15 am. The trash can was full and there was trash stacked everywhere on a table. It was disgusting. We had children with us, so it was very aggravating for there to hardly be any food. When housekeeping came, we were left with 3 towels and no lotion. We had 5 people in the room. Very disappointing. We asked for pool towels and were told they were not clean, yet. I will not stay there again.

The room was so damp and uncomfortable. The air conditioner did not remove humidity. When we arrived at our next destination and unpacked, my clothes were wet from being in that room. We will not stay there again.

Hotel in Helen

Posted May 6, 2014
Pros: the walking distance to the town of helen.
Cons: the cleanliness.
The room was spacious but dirty. The carpets weren't burnt in places, the bathroom walls were gross with stains, and the floors/mirrors were gross. staff listed their pools as one of their great amenities when i called prior to reserving, but never mentioned that it would be closed during my stay until i got there.
