Dreadful dump of a hotel
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: None
Cons: Room
Location: No comment
Our room was a nightmare. Stuffy, way too hot, and the heating in the bathroom on with 28 degrees outside! And it couldn't be turned off. Beds way too soft, my back ached for days. Sorry, but I can't recommend this hotel; there are better ones in Vantaa.

Not ideal

Pros: Easy service to and from the airport
There was no air conditioning in the room, so it was incredibly hot. Also the bathroom was tiny without a proper shower. The room wasn't terrible but there are definitely ways this Best Western could be improved.

Pros: transportation to the airport
Cons: above re opening the window
Spent only a few hours there so can't say anything about food. Bed was comfortable, good lighting. Only minus: to have air flow from an open window curtains need to be moved out of the way - not easy as curtain is fastened to the end of the rod. This also exposes the room for viewing from the parking lot!

Wes Anderson, did you think this up?

This hotel is quirky - not your average corporate monstrosity. It's even kind of a modernist architectural curiosity: each room has a round window, and from the outside, it almost looks like a ship. The rooms have a ship cabin air to them. They are cozy and compact. Don't expect a big shower - it's a tiny little corner of a small bathroom. The place was clean, and the staff was great. Really, really nice, and easy going. Helpful too. The free breakfast was great. The airport shuttle is free, and quick. For a hotel near an airport, the neighborhood is suprisingly residential, and I took a very pleasant evening walk through a charming Finnish suburban cul de sac. Downside: no workout room. There is a Finnish sauna in the basement that operates on a gender-segregated basis for a couple of hours each night. So check the timing when you get in - I missed my chance!

OK if in a pinch...

Pros: Close to the airport and a very nice breakfast buffet not to mention friendly staff
Cons: Very small, especially the bathroom
Location: Close to the airport....expect a 18.00 Euro cab ride.
The hotel room was small, even a bit small for European standards. There was just enough room to move around the beds. We had 2 twin beds that could not move and a small wall mounted table with pointy edges that was a bit over each bed...you could hit your head on it. The bathroom was the smallest I had in 20 years of travel. The hotel airport shuttle runs only very specific hours so you might want to make sure your flights coordinate with the shuttle. The hotel will pick up the taxi fare from the airport but not back to it. There is a city bus that runs 2.80 Euro per person in case you need that. Even though the quarters were small the staff was extremely friendly and helpful...they even helped us with an airport transportation issue. The breakfast was nice and varied.

We arrived very late and left very early. The room was small, average and clean. The bathroom was minuscule, having a shower was uncomfortable. The water was not very hot either. The breakfast buffet was good with lots of choice, local food, american style food and european. Free shuttle to the airport was great.

Could not recommend this one

The airport shuttle only runs for a limited time in the morning and evening. It did not fit our travel so had to take and pay for a taxi both ways. The room for two people was tiny, couldn't move around without getting in each others way. Bathroom also very tiny, shower too small for an average size adult. Bedding appeared to be clean but the rest of the room not so much. We were very disappointed.

Frustrating to get to
Posted Jan 15, 2012
This hotel was OK but its location proved to be a problem. Although near the airport and although advertising a shuttle service, the hotel actually has a limtied shuttle service and I spent a frustrating 2 hours trying to get to the hotel waiting for a shuttle and trying to contact the hotel before finally getting through. Once in the hotel all was fine.
