A bit of old Helsinki

Posted Jun 28, 2013
Pros: Friendly, clean, comfortable
Location: Perfect, central yet quiet
I picked this hotel as I wanted something different from the usual cold beige modern cells-like rooms that you usually get these days in chain hotels - and I was not disappointed. Overall it was just what I was looking for - clean, central and a nice friendly feel to it. As other people have said it is a bit old-fashioned and worn in places but for me that was part of the charm and character of the hotel and felt very like a nostalgic bit of Helsinki. I hope it stays the way it is for my next trip. Overall a good cozy feeling. Room was perfect for 5 days away. Very clean, good wet-room type shower, comfortable bed and very quiet. Breakfast was spot on - good selection of hot and cold buffet breakfast food as well as fruit, pastries etc. A great way to set you up for a day of sightseeing. Not sure what the lunch/evening meals were like as I ate elsewhere. Location couldn't be better, right in the centre of the city, very close to all transport trams, buses and rail (including airport bus), restaurants and many of the main sights but at the same time in a quiet street with a lovely little public gardens a few steps away to spend some quiet time in between sightseeing. Staff were very friendly and nice. Apart from the hotel, I really enjoyed my time in Helsinki and will be returning soon.

When in Helsinki, stay at Arthur's.

Pros: Room 902 is large, quiet, comfortable, homely. The staff are so helpful one feels guilty to ask ...
Cons: Is so far away that we cannot stay more often.
Location: Although central, it is next door to the Botanic gardens and, therefore, quiet. Easy walk from the waterfront and the new Music Hall.
If alive, we'll return on 6th December 2017 to celebrate Finland's 100th day of independence. Cannot imagine staying anywhere else - like going home.

Central Helsinki

Posted May 9, 2013
Pros: Location. Restaurant open all day every day 24 hr reception
Cons: No tea/ coffee making facility
Location: 5-10 mins walk from Central station Close to several tram lines Close to parks
The Hotel is a bit dated but perfectly adequate. Rooms are on the small side. It lacks comfortable common areas ie no place to sit for a cup of coffee or drink. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast is in included and there was a good range of food

Great location, very good value for money

Posted Apr 2, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: The shower in the room
Location: Great location, in the city centre and close to the central station
Hotel Arthur is an old but good hotel, in fact it feels a bit 'retro' when entering the door for the first time (which is kind of charming). The staff was really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. The hotel is very conveniently located near the central station. Hotel Arthur is very good value for money and I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location, comfortable room

Posted Dec 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
We spent 5 nights here at the start of our European winter vacation. The family room was excellent for us (2 adults and 2 kids 9 & 11). The great location made it easy to explore the city both by foot and tram. The breakfasts were great and we ate in the restaurant for dinner twice. We loved the strawberry and goat cheese salad! Would definitely recommend to families.
