Pleasant Hotel in Good LocationPosted Nov 3, 2013
Pros: Location and comfort
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
Location: See above comments. Easy distances to shops, restaurants, harbour and bus station with services to other towns - we chose Rethymno, Agios Nickolaos.
Reasonable walk in to the main, busy areas of Heraklion. Also a short walk to the quieter harbour area, or for a really good walk, not far from the start of the 2.3 Km breakwater walk! Bus station was also close and had a line of available taxis most times. We had a great view from our balcony and found the room and hotel generally, very good. Breakfast service and choices, excellent.

Great location, close to the portPosted Oct 31, 2013
Location: Easy walk to the port and the bus terminal (long-distance busses and the city bus to Knossos), and to the city centre.
We appreciated the email the hotel sent us ahead of time, giving details of location and access. We arrived on the ferry from Santorini and immediately spotted the hotel from dockside. It's an easy walk - but admittedly uphill - from the docks to the hotel. We stayed 2 nights in the "annex" across the street from the main building and subsequently one night in the latter. Both rooms were small but well-equipped and perfectly satisfactory. Breakfasts were very good.

a very nice hotel in a very good location.Posted Oct 19, 2013
Cons: complimentary tea\coffee in room.
Location: the hotel's location is heaven for tourists, plenty of sites are within walking distance.
booked a whole week in a superior single room after reading the positive reviews about this hotel. was very pleased with the room and balcony, cleanness and condition of the facility, comfortable bed, very good shower and a\c, top class rooftop restaurant, the always smiling and helpful staff members, wide range breakfast, view - had a port view which was amazing, especially at evening\night and of course - the key factor: location. all this in a stylish boutique hotel with a special and cozy atmosphere, strongly recommended.

Great Hotel close to everythingPosted Oct 19, 2013
Pros: Location, staff, food, everything!!
Cons: Very little!
Location: Central for everything, especially Bus station A for trips out to Knossos, Malia, the Aquarium and so on.
The Lato is a great little hotel slap bang in the middle of Heraklion, the room may be a bit small for some but was perfect for us, the staff actually offered us an an alternative larger room with no prompt but we were fine with the original one which was offered. Breakfast was fantastic, I can certainly recommend the home made vanilla creams! Add to this the fact that there is one of the best restaurants stuck on the roof and you really cannot knock the Lato for what it offers at the price. Only downer was the tight squeeze in the shower but it served its purpose! Would stay here again without bothering to look for alternatives.

Convenient locationPosted Oct 15, 2013
We stayed at Lato because it was convenient for our late arrival and not far from the port. Then stayed a second time a week later before flying out of Crete. Great breakfast, clean room, convenient location. Easy walk to the museum.

Convenient To The PortPosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: Location, nice view of the port, excellent rooftop restaurant.
Arrived late in the evening by Ferry, the hotel is easy to see from the Port, and is a short walk. Staff was very helpful confirming my rental car arrangements. They provided Wi-Fi service in the room for no extra charge. Both nights we enjoyed excellent meals at moderate expense in the rooftop restaurant.

Nice hotel close to old port and bus to KnossosPosted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: We liked its location and it was a good sized room. It was a busy area but was still quiet enough to sleep with the double glazed windows.
Cons: It would be good if tea and coffee making facilities were in the room.
Location: It was easy walking distance to shops ,restaurants, bus station, museums and the Venetian port.
Nice hotel, conveniently located, good breakfast . Knossos being the high light of the trip.even in September you need to go early before it gets too hot. The archeological museum was one of the best we have seen. Don't bother walking around the wall as you don't see anything and it is boring. Heard Heraklion wasn't nice but we liked it.

Great locationPosted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: good location. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice breakfast buffet
Cons: Don't get a room in the Annex!
Location: Walk to the Fortress and harbour, easy walk to lots of restaurants and the market
Main lobby and hotel has an excellent location overlooking the harbor. Very nice and helpful staff - assisted wiht lost luggage and other suggestions for the area. Room was not great and NO view - in the "annex" which is across the street, and not as nice as the actual hotel. Room was small and stuffy, with a small window to a dirty interior 'courtyard'. AC unit was poorly maintained - either barely on or blasting artic air, and then dripping water from the compressor (had to put towel on floor while hearing dripping all night long). when open, the bathroom door blocked half of room.

Comfortable, convenient and well locatedPosted Sep 13, 2013
Pros: Very helpful, friendly and pleasant staff. Excellent breakfast. Good location.
Cons: The lack of tea/coffee making facility in the room was a negative.
Location: Short walk to large selection of excellent restaurants. Short walk to the bus for other parts of Crete and nearby Knossos and beaches.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lato Boutique. We had booked a superior sea view room but the room we were allocated for our first night, after a late arrival, was rather small with little storage space. However, next morning we were allocated a more spacious and comfortable room for the rest of our stay and we were delighted with this.
