Well deserved holidays

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Lovely destination for relaxation and having fun.Of course not comparable with a 5* hotel in the UK but only because there is a different clientel.People looking for pure luxury should book a private villa with butlers. If you look for lovely beach holidays with funny animation team you should definitely go to the rinela beach! The facilities are amazing:indoor + couple of outdoor pools;large private beach with many offers(jet-ski,banana,parasailing,catamaran,windsurfing..); 2 bars; beside main restaurant one Greek restaurant and a Chinese(my favourite) one;very competent Spa departement;animation team which is fantastic! The food quality is not the best but possibly because it would be a big waste, since so many people who book all inclusive would take plates full of food and leave it for garbage. You literally have complimentary food all day.If restaurants are closed after breakfast, lunch and dinner you constantly have snacks at the pool bar.I can't complain about the cocktails and drinks since there were all for free but you shouldn't have that high expectations. The staff was efficient but not outstanding.I think the size of the hotel and the huge number of guests which is rotating every week does not allow to provide an excellent service for everyone, however all of them were helpful. I work in a iconic 5*hotel in London and know how to provide that kind of service, however I would never expect it for this occasion.I am very happy with my holidays and recommend it to everyone

Definitely not a five star - very disappointing

Posted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: The room was very clean and the maids were lovely. Certain members of staff tried hard but they were in the minority. Small playground on site.
Cons: Pretty much everything except maid service
Location: Wonderful taverna nearby called Ideal Taverna where the service and food were excellent
We were incredibly disappointed with this hotel. There is no way this should have a five star rating - the shell of the hotel may have been once but the maintenance, service and food now put it more in the 2-3 star category. We travelled with 2 year old and booked a family room (which has a small room with no aircon which fits two single beds leading to the unheated pool). We requested a cot at booking and confirmed in an email yet there was no cot in room. When it arrived it was unceremoniously dumped in between the two single beds, blocking access to the door to the pool. The decoration was dreadful and there were stains/burns in the bath. There was no smoke alarm. The TV screen was only about 10inches and the remote has tape holding the batteries in. Blankets on the bed were thsoe scratchy orange ones from the 70s. Aircon broke and we reported it around 1pm and went out. It was not fixed despite a further two requests. When i complained further, it was made clear to me that i was the problem and they were "too busy" with other serious issues. After tears and raised voices they showed me three rooms, the aircon was broken in two and sounded like a train in the third, eventually at midnight we moved to another room. Food was bland and repetitive. Towel exchange draconion. Waitress service for drinks was slow. Hotel maintenance was poor. Pools were cold and blasted terrible music all day. Only toasted sandwiches available outside of dining room.

Great staff, lovely hotel.

Pros: Close to Heraklion airport, just 20 mins transfer. Nice clean beach and plenty of space on the beach Staff were some of the best I've experienced
Cons: The noise of guests and cleaners moving furniture is very loud and intrusive. The use of felt feet on furniture would be a real help to keep the peace
Location: Easy local bus transport to Heraklio and onto Knossos, only €3.20 each way. Little train trip along the coast for an hour is nice to see local area.
Easy and quick transfer from Heraklion airport, but beware being so close to the airport there are about a dozen planes a day from early mornng to late at night screaching overhead. Beach is clean and sea safe to swim in and less crowded than the pools. Pool bar at far end of the beach was fun and welcoming. Food was not as varied as we would have liked but was of good quality and replenished often. Greek Tavernera offered more of a local flavour in the food served and Chinese was very good. Some times the restaurant was very busy but was very well managed and staff helpful and pleasant. Rooms are OK, nothing fancy and unfortunately the noise of heavy furniture being moved around scraping on the floors carried from room to room, like chalk on a blackboard. The layout of the hotel means you can have a short walk after dinner in the local area. There are a lot of steps so anyone with difficulty walking will have trouble getting around, but it works off some of the calories from dinner. Overall we would return and have already started looking at other hotels in the Mitsis group for our next trip to Greece.

First time to Crete

Posted Oct 13, 2010
The only problem we had was the air conditioner in the room did not cool at all and when we reported it they did not check it out, but instead brushed us off and told us that the air conditioner is preset and they can't do anything with it. The temperature outside was in the high 80's and low 90's so it was a very uncomfortable, restless night.
