There were only 4 cars in the parking lot, which was a red flag, along with overgrown annd unkempt shrubbery. This was once a nice hotel, that has not been maintained.
The smoke detector was missing, with wires hanging out. There were 2 hairs in the bed. The ceiling had moldy and flaky areas. The room remained at 75f as the AC didn’t work. Some of the furniture was chewed up. Large rust stains in the bath. The ice detector didn’t work, and the pool/hot tub were closed as they were also being fixed. Photo evidence available.
We called earlier in the day and staff were happy to upgrade us to a room with a whirlpool, given that the hot tub wasn’t working. They were unfamiliar with the American Disabilities Act in terms of service dogs, however were helpful in locating an open store.
Upon check-in there was no welcome, just a request ‘ID’ and then ‘Sign here’.
If the choice was to drive 15 hours without a break, or to stay here again, we would drive through the night in pitch black, pouring rain and fog rather than stay here again.
