Nice hotel, but boiling hot at night

Posted Dec 11, 2014
Pros: Location and historic building next to hotel
Cons: Change the way the windows open, open the windows more, make adjustable heating systeem per room. Later check out. 10 AM is really tooooooo early
Location: Warner Bros Studio tour aroubd the corner
Location is very nice and quiet. Room was hot and temperature couldn't be adjusted. Got to sleep very difficult because I was sweating out of my bed

Nice location, small rooms

Posted Nov 1, 2014
Beautiful setting, but hotel tired and in need of freshening up, especially in the bathroom. The double room is snug, but the twin room is larger. Condensation on the windows made the room feel damp.

Set in beautiful grounds.

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Peaceful & relaxing with a Putting Green.
Cons: Mow the Putting Green, clear the area, and make sure there are suitable clubs & balls to play with.
Location: Handy for road links and major towns such as Watford & St. Albans.
Beautiful hotel in lovely countryside location. Bedroom was far smaller than expected & felt cramped. dismayed that check-out time was 10am! When asked if we could extend that by half an hour, were told there would be a charge! Free beverages, snacks & sweet were a pleasant surprise.

Nice location

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Cons: Cleanliness.Fit a lift.
The hotel room left a lot to be desired. Very small and basic. Like a Travelodge really, but a bit better. The bathroom had a blonde hair on the counter (my hair is black). Fine for a night, but wouldn't stay again. Also the receptionist told the lady who checked in before me that checkout was at 10, when it was in fact at 12 and didn't try to rectify that info when i questioned him. The outside of the other building is beautiful and majestic however. There was no lift to my room on the first floor and i had huge luggage.

Fantastic customer service

Posted Sep 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
I stay in a lot of hotels and this has been one of the best. The level of customer service from reception, to the barman, to the night porter and breakfast staff is all exceptional. The coffee point area is a great idea and a nice area to escape the confines of a bedroom. Quality coffee, complimentary pastries and fruit make it a lovely space to work or relax in during the morning. My only suggestion would be an optional (and free) late check-out on request as not every room requires cleaning at 10am and a longer lie in in the very comfortable bed would have been nice.

The Chilterns in Autumn

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, unusual bar, delightful grounds and convenient location.
Cons: Long walks from reception to the rooms and no lift for heavy luggage. Signage from the main roads.
Despite a Scanawegian wedding absorbing much of the hotel facilities my overnight weekend stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The brekka (discounted for prebooking) was an excellent start to the week.
