Hickory is a neat town and this hotel was accommodating. We stayed here and took a day trip to lake lure.

One night stayPosted Jun 22, 2015
Pros: The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast was very limited. It needed to be restocked but there was no employee was anywhere in sight. I had to go elsewhere to eat!
Location: I was at a conference at Lenior Rhyne University and it was very convenient for me.
It was a good place to relax and energize in preparation for a conference. Room appeared clean and was quiet in spite of the huge fan in the hall outside my door.

Smells too much like cigarettesPosted Jun 8, 2015
Cons: They truely need to get rid of that tobacco smell in the elevator and some of the common areas.
Location: You are really not near much here, but since we were visiting relatives it really didn't matter.
The minute you step into the elevator all you can smell is cigarette smoke - and it smelled the whole time we were there. Most of the front desk people were excellent however we did encounter one who was very sarcastic and didn't want to be bothered with us. Breakfast was disappointing at best... runny oatmeal, stale donuts and danish..only good thing was the sausage gravy. Even biscuits were dry and like hockey pucks. However I do have to say that the room was nice, beds were comfortable, and clean, and did NOT smell of tobacco. Since we didn't spend much time in the room...it was good experience for us. New Waffle House shares driveway so if you don't like the breakfast served at the hotel you can walk over.

Great for PricePosted May 18, 2015
This is a great place to stay for the price. The bed spread is not like it is in the photos, it is now white and more modern. I was very pleased with the overall comfort of the mattress and pillows. There were a few areas that were fine but could be considered for an update. The furniture is a bit outdated. Our lamp's light bulb was fallen over, but we could still use it. A few updates to the furniture alone could make drastic changes. I had no problems swiping into the room but again, it is a bit dated. The bathroom was clean. The sink was a bit low but it wasn't problematic. The toilet paper holder and tissue holder could be updated. And it was a bit dim in the bathroom. Overall, it worked and was fine. Water pressure in the shower was fine and warmed up quickly. There was a bar of soap left in our shower from the last room occupants. I would recommend staying here. I've stayed in a few other hotels in the area and this one only falls slightly short of the others. You cannot beat the price which makes it a great choice. Also, the hotel was very accommodating when I had to shorten my stay.

Disappointed.Posted Apr 23, 2015 on Hotels
We reserved two rooms. My husband and my room, we couldn't get into. I went back to the desk and she redid the cards. When I got in, there were three shirts hanging up and the one bed looked like someone had slept there. I went back to the desk and she put us upstairs in another room. The breakfast was cold stuff except for a omelet you could get but there was no one there to make it for you. My husband had to go to the desk to get someone.
