I loved the lodge setting in the beautiful mountains! We were disappointed that the pool had green water that the kids wouldn't swim in. The chottub was Too hot and we even turned the heat down twice. The food @ Altitudes was MAGNIFICENT!!!!

I love this property!! I love when my family and friends stay here when visiting me. It has the perfect rustic mountain vibe. Beautiful quiet and serene views. Debra in the office was amazing for check in and any issues that could arise. My only hope is that this hotel makes a bit more of an effort. It could be a diamond in the rough. I’d definitely stay here again.

I liked where it was. I liked everything it had to offer, pool, nice deck, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, restaurant-bar, lots of trees, and lounge. And lady at desk was very very nice. What I didn’t like was the strong musty moldy smell of the place. Place is old and I know living in the mountains that there is a lot of mold and dampness. I was on bottom floor and maybe top floors may not be as bad. But I am sensitive to mold. They used dehumidifiers In The downstairs hallway. Even the lounge area smelly musty. I was going to stay two nights but one was enough. Actually was not looking forward to going back to my room after being out all day. Yes I opened outside door and turned off air conditioning. Also mentioned it to check in but was told that most all the rooms have that smell and yep it’s the mountains. And wasn’t offered to switch to another room. Which may not have been any better anyway. The bedding was damp too. This may not affect everyone but just an FYI for those that are sensitive to mold.

This is such a treasure to find these days! Reminds me fondly of a place my family went when I was young. It has everything you need and more. The food was excellent, people were super helpful and polite. It’s not modern, has a history but it is very comfortable and safe to me! I booked a return trip before I left.

Trip to the Playhouse in the Highlands
Room 121 was comfortable and clean but dated. Plenty of hot water for showers and soft water. Restaurant and lounge does not open until 5 or 5:30 as a result had dinner in town so we could attend a play at the playhouse that started at 8pm, upon returning we found the lounge closed already as 9 of us was hoping to have a little nite cap. Their loss I guess. Breakfast service was slow and 2 eggs, 2 sausage links and a biscuit was about $9 plus coffee. The .location however is beautiful. If they advertise it as a resort, act like it.

Debbie was very helpful over the phone and by email. She was also extremely pleasant to communicate with. Can't be nicer than her!!!!!!!!!!!! A++++++ There was some chemical odor left on our clothes and purses which had to be aired out when we got home. My friend had same problem and it was from a faulty furnace at their home. Maybe you want to check out your furnace just in case? Just FYI......could be a leak of some sort.

Wonderful place!!! Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was would have liked another lamp for lighting on one side of our room. Rustic with history and charm. Will definitely stay again. Staff was great. Restaurant is excellent!!! Chef David was great to meet and food was excellent!!!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. We also felt that the price was reasonable for being so close to Highlands. The lodge was older and had a lot of history but our room and the rest of the property that we saw was very clean and well groomed. The restaurant was excellent and all the staff was very friendly. We will definitely visit the Skyline lodge again.

Gentlemen wasn’t aware of us coming nor was he in a good mode about it. He was snappy about the pool. When we asked about its condition. Just kept saying he wouldn’t charge us which made us feel unwelcome. When I asked to step aside to speak with my partner he said he would wait but when I walked back up the stairs less then a min later he was gone. Shame it looked like a nice place to stay.

Our Trip..
Great place to stay we stayed 3 days and seen the area. We went to Helen, GA fro a day and then to Clemson, SC and the last day stayed around town. Our room was a little loud at time we wear near the lounge, but overall great place I wish the tree was not so big so you would have a better view of the mountains.

Staff extremely nice and helpful. We had two breakfasts and they were very good. The two dinners my wife and I had were superb with my wife having trout and me having the pork medallions. Small but excellent wine list. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. After dinner we had drinks in front of the huge fireplace and met some of their very interesting guests. Would definitely return.

Not your best life for seniors as far as accessibility. Room very small for what you get. Expedia represented breakfast included. Not so, unless your stay is Sat or Sunday. Bring a step stool to get in and out of bed unless you're six feet tall. Just sayin, seniors beware!

Room we stayed in is badly in need of updating. Peeling paint in places and rusty faucets. The armoire holding the TV was designed for the old box TVs and not a flatscreen, so you have to be standing directly in front of it to see the TV. The armoire should be thrown and out and the TV mounted on the wall so you can actually see it from the bed. TV wall mounts are $40 on Amazon that would easily accommodate this small TV.

The property is beautiful; nestled in the trees on a quiet mountain it truly is an escape from everything. The room was quaint, clean, and exactly what we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved opening the doors and windows at night to enjoy the tranquil mountain air. However we did have a room without air conditioning, which was fine for when we visited in the fall (they do have heat). If you visit in the Summer I would suggest ensuring you have a room with air conditioning. We will be back with our dog for another longer stay!

Rustic comfort. Small room with adequate facilities and a good mattress- everything clean and working. No A/C but it’s in the 50’s or lower at night except July-August. I was there in early September and it was cool at night. Superb restaurant! Good wine list, excellent FRESH trout. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had to leave early but after checkout and they didn’t try to charge for the cancelled night. I’ve been coming to Highlands for 50+ years and this is the experience you look for.

Pros: Location is great. Staff was wonderful! Mountain views! Spacious Rooms. Peaceful Mountain Lodge. We enjoy fine dining and go out of our way for delicious food and drink. Had you mentioned this we could have rectified your queries. We could have moved you to another room and I would have opened the bar for you .The weather effected both our internet and the cable television. We even lost power .

The staff were delightful, even gave us breakfast after the restaurant closed on Monday. Although the food at dinner the night before was nothing to highly recommend, our overall 24 stay at the Lodge was delightful. Rooms are definitely a bit dated, but one might also call them "rustic." Wouild definitely recommend staying there again.

Hotel management lies to you
Called hotel to change reservation and was told we had to make the change through Expedia - we made change through Expedia and ended up getting double billed by hotel - once for night we did not stay with but moved and once for night we actually stayed at hotel. We called and told the hotel we needed to move reservation, so hotel was aware of move. When we noticed the double bill on our credit card we called the hotel and they said the would issue us a credit. But NO, they lied to us then sent a letter into the credit card company saying we never notified them of the cancellation. -
