“Saving money in Hilton Head”

The Days Inn in Hilton Head is located very conveniently on the main highway (278) on the island, just behind a local diner that is open 24/7. Although the appointments are not rich nor luxurious, it is certainly comfortable, clean and fits the need for a bed, food and shower. The pool area is inviting. The only area lacking is the breakfast menu as there is nothing on it that is healthy to eat. Too much fatty and carbs offerings and the only fruit is apples. I miss the waffle iron that is present in other hotels of the same name, as well as boiled eggs and bananas. The pastries look cheap and uninviting. The hot bar includes round fake scrambled eggs, sausages, biscuits and gravy, and the hotel does a good job of keeping it hot and stocked. Coffee is good and plentiful. One other bad thing - they copy your ID, which puts you at risk for identity theft.

“ok but not great”

Staff was knowledgeable and the room and lobby were clean. The maintenence of the hotel appeared to have gotten behind at some point. The handle to my son's room fell off, wall paper was peeling, carpet was worn and had a hole in it just outside our room door. location of the hotel was hard to find (its hidden back inside a bunch of trees but so is everything else in Hilton Head) even after staying there several days i was missing the entrance. no hottub although they told us proudly "next year" but i have no plans on returning to see how it turned out.

“Good Hotel for the Price”

This hotel is a great deal considering that hotels a couple miles closer to the beach can run for a lot more money per night. It is a 5-7 minute drive to the beach, but there is a free parking area if you go straight down the road and turn onto Pope Avenue. For the price difference, it was worth a little inconvenience. The overall condition of the hotel was fine--not the best but not the worst--and the room, linens, and shower were clean. Friendly staff, large selection at breakfast every morning, would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to enjoy the beach on a budget.

“You get what you pay for”

Not much to say. Although the staff is extremely friendły and helpful, the hotel is not well maintained. The hallway smells like mold. The smell is very strong though, not simply unpleasant but gives the impression of filth. The room is neat enough, however we had some roaches in there. You can't argue with the price, but with the roaches and he smell in the hallway (right in front of the bedroom door) I'd say it was nor worth it this time. The place has some potential, but management must be willing to spend some serious money renovating the place.
