“Wonderful experience”
Had a great experience staying here. The staff was very helpful and personable. The view from our room was awesome. We were on the seventh floor looking out over the pools and the beach. Only down side was the mattress was not too comfortable and the $10 self parking in the garage seemed a little silly. Great stay and vacation - would do it again!
“First Time Hilton Head Vacationers - Great Hotel”
We had heard great things about the Marriott Hilton Head and fortunately they were all true. Our two girls loved the pools and the beach and the availability of rental bikes was a big plus for us. A great family hotel.
“Would go back in a heart beat”
Very comfortable, clean and the staff was excellent.
“Beautiful setting but nicked and dimed”
This hotel is in a beautiful location and close to many activities as well as many in house activities; staff is friendly and accommodating. I felt, however, that we were "nickel and dimed" on many aspects of the stay. For example, $10 a day for parking...where else could I park my rental car which I had to have to get to the hotel as there is no shuttle service to/from local airports. The only complimentary beverage is water and the price for dining is not discounted for in house guests nor are discounts provided to outside restaurants; $18 for a breakfast buffet? that's a lot for families to pay and that is the targeted audience. Housekeeping service was very inconsistent; we were out of the room several mornings to early afternoon and returned to an untidied room; seemed as if they started cleaning in late morning early afternoon, however, it looked as if many people were up and out on the beach pretty early due to the heat.
“TMN”
This hotel was just ok. The common areas and pool area were updated but our room was just ok. Our room was supposed to be oceanview which was a stretch. Most of the service we had at the hotel was fairly good. However, the pool area was not kept up and there were frequently piles of garbage and leftover food containers laying around. They also charged us, per day, to self-park our car in the parking lot. What caused me to give the lower rating is a different experience. When we left, my 18 year old daughter could not find her expensive pair of leather sandals. She did not wear wear them to the beach or pool (too dressy). We believe someone (staff?) had taken them from our room. We asked at the desk when checking out but no one had turned them in. Upon returning home, I emailed the hotel directly to complain. I was asked for a detailed description of the sandals. By the end of the day, they were "located" by the pool staff. I told him there was no way that my daughter wore them to pool and left them. I am sure she would have noticed her shoes missing if she had walked back to our room, through the entire hotel and lobby, barefoot. They offered to send them back to us but only if we paid for shipping. When we got them in the mail, they were soaking wet, in a plastic bag, and covered with sand. The zipper was corroded. After a week in this condition, the shoes were ruined. Very disappointing. If you stay at this hotel, lock up your belongings in your room!
“Ideal resort for our family”
My kids kept pleading to extend our vacation. The Marriott has everything a family w/ young kids (7 & 10 yrs old) needs: kid's activities, great pool, right on the beach, spa & fitness center, nearby bike/boat rentals, and designated hammock area ... very cool. When we re-visit HHI we're staying @ the Marriott Golf & Resort @ The Palmetto Dunes.
“Great oceanfront retreat”
Pleasantly suprised. The service was excellent from the moment we checked in until we checked out. The food was very good also.
“Wonderful hotel but reservations not honored”
I reserved an oceanfront room with king sized bed. The room was listed as having a "resort credit." I made a special request for a room as "high up in the hotel as possible." When we arrived (~ 30 - 45 minutes before official check in time), I was told that our room would be on the 4th floor (the second lowest in the hotel which has 10 floors), that the hotel was full and that all the king bed rooms were "taken." Additionally, I was told I had no resort credit with this room. I was politely told that my special requests could not be honored. Luckily, I had a copy of my Expedia reservation and pointed out that only the request for room high up in the hotel was a special request. In fairness to the hotel, they eventually did grant me a $100 resort credit (which they said I was not entitled to) and complimentary breakfast buffets for both of us for every morning of our stay.
“Used to be better!”
Some things were overlooked this visit -5th visit - pool deck wasn't hosed any day and food and bird mess all over - ants around the bar deck. Pool could have been cleaner. Room wasn't ready until 5:30 day of arrival - given a hard time about requesting a late check out (1:00) - we'll continue to go as our children love the memories!
“Great hotel, Amazing spa”
The spa here is amazing. The services were great (facial, massage, scalp treatment.) and the atmosphere was the best I've ever been to. It's small, but the relaxation room had chaise lounges and curtains for a private relaxation time. The staff was also so nice and helpful. The hotel was comfortable and clean. The stores and restaurants were also good. I would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Hilton Head.
