We Loved Our Stay! Romantic and Fun.Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: Pool, service, food, cleanliness, facility.
Cons: Signs, please! Clearly marking the way to the ocean, the hot tub, to the towel supply, etc.
Location: Shops were closed on Sunday.
We loved almost everything about the resort. We stayed in March 2014, and enjoyed the recent renovations. Most of the hotel staff was exceptional, the ones that weren't amazing were still fine. I ran into the manager and he asked me if everything was okay, and if they could improve on anything. I didn't complain about a thing. Though, I would like to offer a few recommendations. Our only recommendations would be: • At first, we could not find our way around the resort. We weren't given a map at check-in, even though we arrived at night and clearly could have used a map the next morning. • There aren't any signs placed around the resort, showing us how to get to the hot tub, the ocean. • The hot tub is small and not in a great location. • The "shade pool" is simply under a roof... Not palm tree "shade." The area could use some decor. It's very boring. • The pool towels were very difficult to find. They were under a dark, unlit hut with a sign that incorrectly labeled the hut. • The only restroom on the entire main facility is in the lobby area. The restrooms are very nice, however. We'll definitely stay there again.

Long WeekendPosted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: The grounds. The proximity to the beach.
Cons: The service and the food in the onsite restaurant (Heywards).
My husband and I stayed at the Sonesta to celebrate his birthday. The property is lovely and the room was very clean. We enjoyed the grounds and of course the proximity to the beach! Overall, however, the hotel had the appearance of being understaffed. After it rained, no one was wiping deck chairs and there just weren't many people around. We ate at Heyward's the night we arrived and were not at all impressed with the service or the food. We had the breakfast buffet the next morning, and felt that it was very subpar. The buffet items were barely lukewarm, and the selections were quite basic for the price tag. I tried to get a quick bite our last night there and after being seated, no one came to wait on me for over 15 minutes. I ended up leaving. With so many other options for accommodations, I'm not sure we would come back again.

Perfect GetawayPosted Mar 25, 2014
Long weekend with my wife and we were instantly impressed with Mollie at the front desk while checking in. First time in Hilton Head and we couldn't of asked for a better, relaxing getaway. The beach is an easy walk through their beautiful grounds and the hot tub is great in addition to the two heated pools. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend.

44th Anniversary getawayPosted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Treated as guest of value, regardless what you pay to stay. Staff does listen and respond to any needs.
Cons: Awaked 2 nights in row at 1:30 by noisy guests. Resort responded immediately.
Location: Located in Shipyard Plantation in seemingly a very private area, but you are are within 20 minutes to Anywhere you want to go on island.
Really enjoyed our visit at Sonesta Resort in Hilton Head, we are ready to go back again. Staff treated us very well. Excellent value.

Why NotPosted Mar 21, 2014
When I travel, affordability is always on the top of my considerations. Every once in a while, I treat myself to something special. Sonesta was a great place, staff was kind, location perfect. Once in a while Why Not?

A Very Comfortable HotelPosted Mar 19, 2014
A nice facility with plenty of onsite amenities. We appreciated the opportunity to rent bicycles on premise and enjoyed touring the island on bikes, as well as riding them on the beach. Our room was very comfortable and well kept during our stay. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful with questions that we had while staying there. The resort was very convenient to other restaurants sports and shopping opportunities.

Exceeded Expectations!Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Beautiful, clean, friendly and had many extras to enjoy if we had been staying longer.
Cons: To us it was perfect and I work in the tourism industry on ships so I am usually very observant and expect the best which is what we experienced here.
Location: Didn't stay long enough, but the location was close to a festival we had gone to enjoy, as well as outlet shopping, restaurants and on the beach!
I took my mother for a weekend birthday get away stay and from the check in with supervisor Anca to check out we were really impressed and loved our stay. Anca was very friendly and we checked in later than usual around 9:30pm so I am sure she had alrady had a long day herself. As we checked in we chatted with Anca just a bit and she asked how our day had been, if we enjoyed our dinner and we told her it had been a great day for my mother's birthday. We got our keys, the valet took our car and once we arrived at our room about 15 minutes later there was a knock on the door and a gentlemen was there with a small plate of fruit and cheese with a hand written note from Anca saying "Happy Birthday, we hope you enjoy your stay with us". Both my mother and I were so impressed with her extra special touch especially since we were only staying one night. That little extra just made our trip even more special. My mother enjoyed that we were right on the beach as she enjoys long morning walks. Even the housekeeping staff were friendly while passing by in the hallway the next morning and asked if we were enjoying our stay. The hotel was beautifully decorated, understated but very elegant and everywhere we went it was very clean. When leaving the valet gentlman, Eric, was very sweet and shared kind words and a smile as we left. Great stay and positive memory for both of us!
