Vacation on the beach at Hilton Head Island

Posted Apr 26, 2015
Pros: Proximity to the beach, the staff, the pool, the restaurants
Location: Hilton Head Island is truly a beach destination. Golf, tennis, biking, shopping and restaurants will customize your vacation.
The Sonesta Resort is located right on the beach! The resort was clean, the staff was extremely courteous and friendly. The menu choices in the restaurants were great - something for everyone. The Almond French Toast at breakfast was a nice choice. The Shrimp Tacos for lunch had an incredibly tasty sauce. The pool area has an attentive wait staff that comes to your chair to take you food and/or drink order. As you enter the beach, there is a beach rental stand where you can rent chairs and umbrellas and charge it back to your room at the resort - a convenience I enjoyed. There was live entertainment at the lobby bar on several nights to keep the guests entertained after dark. It was a most enjoyable stay!

I'll pass

Posted Apr 26, 2015
Pros: staff were very good as is location.
Cons: Sound proofing.
Location: close to restaurants, lot's of great bike trails/pathways.
Looks much better in the pictures than it does in person. Doors to room are paper thin and voices from lobby bar can be heard in full clarity from inside your room at 1am.

Over priced

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Hotel room had a musty smell. The problem with expensive hotels, is that, they have every item over priced (small water bottle:$4!). I suppose if you are wealthy, and have money to throw around, the place might make you feel good. The valet folks were not the most friendly crowd at the front entrance ( if you are not using their services). Not our kind of hotel.

The staff was great

Pros: This is a beautiful resort with easy access to the beach. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate.
Location: The beach is great and easy to access. Plenty of great golf course and restaurants nearby.
We were bumped from our connecting flight. We were placed on a connecting flight to Savannah that was delayed over four hours. We opted to stay in Charlotte overnight since all airport services would have been closed when we arrived in Savannah. Instead, we took an early flight the next morning to Hilton Head. We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 AM, and our room was available. The concierge was especially helpful, the bartenders provided good information too.

Paradise!

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location. 50 yards from the beach and 1-2 miles from every restaurant you can think of. An hour from Savannah GA.
Cons: Lunch menu pricing at the pool grill.
Location: An hour from Savannah GA for the history buffs. Golf courses everywhere. And the beach! Very quiet at night too.
From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and they went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed and wanted. The person at the front desk, Mollie I believe, was outstanding. She upgraded our room to an ocean view at minimal cost and provided excellent details of the property, the beach and even off site attractions. Once we settled in we were left alone...completely...which was the way we wanted. When we did need something they took care of it. Everyone was cordial and accommodating. The only thing that I would move into a negative category was the cost of the food at the pool grill. That is the one meal that we really had no choice because it was the middle of the day and we really did not want to drive off property and waste good beach time. Prices were very high. Decent food but costly. Only negative. We will definitely be back and would recommend this resort to everyone. Top Notch!

Sonesta

Excellent resturant and bar in lobby. The grounds are spacious with large pool, bike rentals, ponds with benches, landscaped walkways to ocean with cabanas and chair rental. The Van De Meer tennis facility is right next to the Resort. If you can't enjoy your stay here you can't anywhere.

Nice resort in Hilton Head

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Nice rooms, private beach, 1 outdoor and 1 covered pool.
Cons: $20 resort fee should be included in price, I'm not sure what I got from it.
Location: Being inside the Shipyard plantation, you can't walk anywhere. However, restaurants and shops are close by.
Nice resort with a private beach. Hotel was hard to find because it was inside the Shipyard plantation. Rooms were large and comfortable with a coffee maker and all the amenities. Self parking is free and they have a valet option. Overall, food was expensive, but they did have a couple more affordable choices, especially the pool side restaurant.
