Hiroshima VisitPosted Apr 16, 2014
Pros: The amenities of the hotel were first class, the staff very helpful and courteous, and the location.
Cons: The eggs for the western style breakfast are pre-cooked so the fried eggs tend to be cold by the time one eats it. Cook eggs any style on demand.
We stayed 2 nights. Main purpose was to visit the Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park/Atomic bomb dome to learn first hand about the destruction caused by nuclear weapons and to enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossom season. We were not disappointed. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, the weather was a nice sunny 16-20 deg C both days, and the sight of many cherry blossoms were an unforgettable sight. The location of the hotel was one of the selection factors. It is conveniently co-located with the JR Hiroshima Station and having a JR Pass allowed us to use the local sight seeing bus for free. It looped the Hiroshima Peace Park and one could get off and on at each point of interest. On boarded the bus outside the hotel. The Hiroshima station is quite a complex. It is composed of many shops and restaurants including a large retail store...9 floors.

Fabulous location adjacent to the train station.Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: The location plus it was very quiet considering it was in the middle of a major transportation hub.
Location: Access to the Peace Park and museum were easy by tram or taxi.
The central location and ease of access made this hotel perfect for our whirlwind tour of Japan. The rooms were well appointed and they accommodated our request to have our two rooms near each other. We were traveling with teenage grandsons and the McDonalds at the station was a blessing!

Pros: Excellent location if you are travelling by Shinkansen or bus. Spacious rooms and relaxing public areas.
Location: Four minutes walk to a variety of shops. The Mapleoop tourist bus stops right outside the hotel for access to Peace Memorial, A-Dome and art museums.
Mapleoop tourist bus stops right outside the hotel for access to all of the main sights within HIroshima. Excellent hotel, friendly helpful staff, lovely, clean, comfortable, spacious rooms. Buffet breakfast includes an extensive range of choices and is excellent value.

Great stopoverPosted Apr 7, 2014
We only spent one night here, but we found it excellent value for money. Close to the train station and there was even an adjoining corridor from the skinkansen station! Rooms were a little on the small size, but staying only one night was fine. Staff were very helpful and even approached is with maps and suggestions!

Greatly surprised. Much better than anticipated.Posted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location. It is right by the train station. We were able to go everywhere we wanted either on train or taxi.
Location: We visited the Peace Memorial Park to see the dome of the building left standing after the atomic bomb was dropped there.
When I booked this room through Expedia I purchased a small double, which I was told was on a ground floor. I was offered to upgrade to a larger bed on an upper floor for about double the price. Given what I was told when I talked to a person at Expedia, I did not anticipate it would be a very nice place. When we arrived we were totally amazed. The lobby was beautiful and we were given a room on an upper floor. I don't know if we were given an upgrade or if the room was what I had reserved. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Hiroshima.

Prefect location for seeing HirosimaPosted Jan 1, 2014
Pros: Almost everything. The "smart" features in the room were wonderful.
Cons: Buffet breakfast!!!
Location: Walking distance to almost everything to see in Hiroshima, Easy access to the trains which we took to the ferry to Miyajima.
This was our first time in Hiroshima and our first time in Japan. We chose the Granvia for its perfect location and great price. The hotel has all the little things that make a frequent traveler happy. The staff was friendly and professional and could not do enough to make our stay better. Our room had all of the nice touches that set some hotels apart from others. Perfectly designed use of space. Amazing shower! As the mirror fogged up wile my wife was showering and I was shaving....the area above the sink stayed fog free! Heated toilet seat (Part of the ubiquitous electronic bidets all over Asia these days) The Japanese Steak House on the 21st floor was first rate. (The view was delicious as well) Even the bar down the steps off the lobby was cozy and inviting. The only thing that bothered us was the buffet breakfast. There was another restaurant that served a Japanese breakfast and then there was the one we tried that had a more international/typical business hotel breakfast. Disappointed. Many of the items that were supposed to be hot were not. The selection was not that great for the price. The set-up/display did not allow for patrons to easily flow through the buffet line, Should have been better.

Hotel next to stationPosted Dec 28, 2013
I stayed for one night on the 7th floor of the hotel. Very convenient as its just next to Hiroshima station. The room is very clean (as all Japanese hotels) and very BIG (bigger than regular Japanese hotel rooms). The room is newly renovated. Will definitely recommend this hotel! The staff were very friendly too!
