“Emerse yourself in Saigon's history”
This is a great hotel on so many levels. We stayed in a new Oriental Suite that was modern but still retained the charm of a 1880s hotel. The room was generous in size, bathroom was large and the bed comfortable. I was impressed by how the hotel has maintained many of the original features such as open corridors. The location of the hotel is perfect, there is a department store next door and the main markets and shopping areas are within 5 minutes walking. The hotel is located in the historic area, opposite the Opera House.
The hotel does not have a swimming pool or gym, but if you are looking for this go next door to the Hyatt Hotel and pay three times the price for less character. I was thinking about the different people that must have passed through the doors of the Continental Hotel and that somehow you become a part of the city's rich history when you stay there.
Brakfast buffet was OK, but the staff are too eager to remove your plate and do not offer tea or coffee service. The hotel is a wedding reception hotspot, infact the whole area is a wedding reception hotspot. Thankfully, these weddings don't go for very long and didn't impact on our sleep. The lobby can be a little crowded however when wedding guests are arriving.
