Famous hotel in Saigon.

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: The location and rooms.
Cons: Some of the staff!
This is a large traditional hotel in District 1 of HCMC and is placed very well to see many of the attractions and sights. Having booked it on Expedia, the room we were given was not as described in the booking. A call to reception soon changed this and we were upgraded for free but staff were not very friendly.

Just okay....

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Location was next to The Opera House and a 8-10min walk to Ben Thanh market. The room was big but things and decor in the room looks tired and dated. Hotel is very strict about replenishing the mineral water. It was a strict NO when we ask for 1 bottle of water from the Housekeeping maid on the morning before we checked out at noon. I personally feel that this is not a nice gesture from a 4* hotel. The room given to us was also pretty noisy at night as one of the balcony door couldn't be closed fully. The breakfast was average and nothing much to brag about. On the whole, I will not choose to stay in this hotel in my trip back to HCM as I belived there are better ones around with the same price.

Overall, a good experience. The only negative was the noisy air-con.

Unbelievably amazing hotel

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: Everything! But particularly the traditional French decor and amazing breakfast.
Location: Notre Dame Cathedral, Ben Thanh market, Post Office, Opera House
After touring Southeast Asia for 2 weeks, my husband and I decided to "splurge" for our final night's stay in Saigon before heading back to the States. The Continental did not disappoint. From the minute we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff was friendly and hospitable, the room was elegant, clean, and had amazing views, and the location was perfect. We will recommend this hotel to all of our friends who are traveling to Saigon.

Classic hotel

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: The location, and the history of the hotel.
Cons: The beds..............the mattress sagged in the middle.
Location: Lots.
Initial contact with reception staff was less than impressive. They tried to stick me with a lesser room than what I had booked and paid for. Not a great start. It took some convincing to give me the room that I had paid for. Turns out that they had sold out of all the types of rooms that I had booked, so they upgraded me for free.............after some work on my part. I felt quite diminished by the whole affair.

Just OK...you can and should do better

Posted Jun 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
It was just fine. We wanted to stay here for historical reasons and I am glad we did; however, there are other historical hotels in the area that are a better value (even if a bit more expensive). The staff were indifferent. Our room was fine with a very outdated bathroom. Our tub barely drained and we asked them to fix it a number of times (but they never even sent anyone). The simply don't care about your stay and for the price they really should (compared to other hotels we stayed in). My recommendation skip this place and find another historical hotel.
