“Excellent value for money at Majestic Saigon”

We stayed at the majestic while in Saigon in end Oct/early Nov 2011 in a total of 4 nights: 2 nights when we arrived and then again one night each before/after out Mekong Cruise. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I have given 4 stars for the service only as there is one thing that we found a bit annoying: When you arrived you leave your luggage at the entrace with the bell boy and check in. Bu then you luggage is not brought to your room right away, you have to ask for this. Otherwise everyting else is excellent. Also swimming pool in court yard in the old part of the hotel and the gym next to it are very good.

Getting around

IF by taxi / bus in Vietnam or Saigon takes a long time: Saigon trafic is allways busy around the clock, specifically bad druing rush-hour. Don't know when at he moring, but usually between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm in the afternoon/evening. Outside of HCMC the roads in bad shape with lot of potholes and/or very bumpy sections, where everyone just slows down to nearly walking speed. So either way, travel takes much more time for the same distance than we were accustomed to in Madrid, Spain; London, UK; or Frankfurt, Germany. Most taxi drives in Saigon do understand enough English to know where you want to go. Except one it seems that we got on our last night who even did not have a clue about the locations in Saigon itself.

Nightlife

Hoh Chi Minh City (HCMC) aka Saigon does not really have a night life when we visited in Nov/2011. Restaurants closed around 11 pm and after some search we found one Club "VOX" which is located in the shopping center basement - next to the motorcycle parking lot - that is next to the Asiana Intercontinental Saigon Hotel. THat club has table service: that is you are assigned to a table with a personal "waiter". Who takes your orders and constantly refills you glass from the beer-can / soft-drink bottle. Most drinks on the menu were not available; whiskey etc was only avaailbe by the bottle at around 80 USD. When we visisted on a Friday night, there were about as much emplyees there (bar tenders, waiters, security...) than guests: about 20 each. Best quirky thing was a lady that walked around with a 'display', which showed a cigarette pack - a way of selling cigarettes that we had never seen before.

“Majestic is old but classic”

Old property located on the Saigon River the Majestic has a classic presence with quality staff and services. Expensive for HCMC the feel of old Vietnam is alive. Breakfast is served on the 5th floor with an open area looking at the Saigon River; which is very charming. Food and all servcies were professional and of good quality; tours are all private and impressive although expensive compared to other options. Rooms are old but give a feel of old world class and quality. I think some of the newer more centrally located Hotels would be my choice in the future but everything I experienced was quality from the Majestic.

“Classy Stay”

Majestic Hotel is a wonderful, classy hotel and the rooms are fantastic. The location is good (close to fancy shopping streets, restaurants and opera house) except for a lot of construction around the hotel (April 2011) and sometimes a slight sewer smell. The pool is small and sauna/jacuzzi are separate for men and women and not very attractive anyways because of the closed space with no windows. Staff are professional and helpful. Overall a good stay

“Saigons BEST”

location great very clean spacious room good bathroom wonderful 1920 s hotel beautiful architecture and exciting view of the city traffic yet quiet. very nice pool and clean great breakfast sat for 2 hours enjoying the coffee food and ambience. i enjoyed my stay could not fault this hotel an experience well worth having.

“Fantastic hotel all round. Everything I expected and more.”

This hotel was fantastic. The rooms were very clean and a great size, although I have to admit that we were upgraded which made it even better. the breakfast and restaurants were also of great quality and everyone could not be more helpful. Our trip to the Mekong Delta was arranged through the hotel and we got a great guide, driver and a Mercedes car as a nice bonus. The area is fantastic with great shops and restaurants right next door. We never felt unsafe and loved the city around The Majestic.

“You Can Do Better!”

The hotel is lovely in the old world charm, with beautiful stained glass in painted ceiling. It is located directly across the street from the river. So, it is a longer walk into the down town part. Our room was large & with a large bathroom. The tub/shower was very deep and you had to step on a stool to enter. This was not easy for an older lady. I was not happy with the hardness of the bed. It was as soft as a wooden floor. There was no electrical outlet near the desk to work on your computer.
