“Faded glory”
Myself and colleagues booked this hotel for two nights because of its reputation as a monument to the French colonial era. In fact this aspect was disappointing. The hotel is a bit drab and looks past its best. On the plus side the staff were pleasant and helpful, and spoke English quite well. Rooms were large, quiet and comfortable. There is a small pool with a bar on the third floor. Buffet breakfast was quite satisfactory in range and quality. The hotel charges for internet access in the rooms. Access was free at the business centre but the download speed was barely adequate. Overall satisfactory but a little disappointing.
“Short stay in HCMC”
Only had a two day stay but overall it was enjoyable. The food in the restaurant was very good and the staff were very helpful. The massage I think was more for males than females as my wife didn't enjoy the experiance.
“Metropole Hotel-decent rooms out of the line of fire”
Good hotel located off the main drag of backpacker lane. Abit pricey for Vietnam, however, the rooms were clean and service was nice.
“Good price performance ratio!”
Although we came with two small children we managed to arrange to get an extra bed in our room for the kids. Great location for us international tourists who like to be in the center and near to the major sights. Plus it is a great starting point for the walking tours around town. The hotel has nice/clean rooms. Overall great price performance ratio for Saigon!
“Pleasant stay!!”
We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and hotel restaurant food was delicious. For the price we paid, we happy with it. The location was good, we took 5 min walk to Ben Thanh market. All overall, we had a pleasant stay and would like to stay again next visit.
“To be considered”
Located in District 1, the Métropole hotel is in the most tourist friendly area of HCM-city. Hotel build in the 1960s, you can see that it has been revampted over the years. A refreshing exterior pool on the 3rd floor is there to help us cope with the 40 degrees C on the street. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. You will be able to get someone that speaks English or French to help you with your questions but that might not be the first employee that you will see in the lobby. The breakfast buffet (included) was fantastic. Some Western food (safest if not used to the other styles), some Vietnamese, some Chinese and some Japanese too... you can be adventurous if you want. From that hotel, you can walk toward the old town (with all the French colonial buildings - Opéra, Cathedral, Palace, Poste, Saigon River hotels...), a 15-20 minute walk. A taxi ride there will be less than 30 000 VND (1,50 $US). About the room ? Exectly what we wanted... One queen bed, clean, full bathroom, ...
“Best deal”
The concierge is helpful and friendly - made suggestion as to which taxi company is the best in the town, which temple is worth going when my time is limited, the security guard helped me to cut through & aid me in crossing the motorcycles/automobile road. The hotel is about less than 10 mins taxi ride to the popular saigon river pier and Dong Khoi district 1 area. The hotel room is clean and in good condition and based on the price you pay for your room it is a good deal. The breakfast is decent you have a good selection of local/asian food & fresh fruits & bakery. I have no complaints for the price I paid. They have a corner setup with three computers for free use of internet. They have an ATM machine right inside the hotel lobby. It is so convenient when you are running out of petty cash and you don't have to go find a bank. It's a three stars hotel so i know what i can expect and I am happy & satisfied for what i get.
“Can't wait to go back”
Very impressesd with everything from the staff, to the location, breakfast and the pool. The bellman were always making sure that we had the best deal on cabs and could reccommend great places to eat. All the attention to detail was incredible.
“Beautiful Hotel”
Beautiful hotel, great spa and pool. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. I was within walking distance to several sites and the walk was great way to see the city! Would definitely book again.
“We will return!”
Extremely courteous staff, very cleanrooms, free internet . Delicious breakfast served daily at their lovely French-ambient restaurant. Hallways surrounding the rooms need some update.
