“Good Hotel, Good Location”

While not directly in the center of District 1, this hotel was close enough to all the major sites that you can walk or use a cab for a short ride. Especially nice (albeit under-utililzed) was the pool. Ho Chi Minh is a huge, busy Southeast Asian city, and it tends to be rather hot. Returning to the hotel for a quick swim was a refreshing way to cool off before heading out in the evening. The rooms might not have been ultra fancy, but hopefully one doesn't visit places like Vietnam to stay in their hotel room all day! The staff was helpful at every turn, and we'd certainly use this hotel again the next time we're in Ho Chi Minh City.

“Can't wait to visit Saigon again”

We came back to the Metropole because we had stayed here last March and thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and the convenience of the locaion which is only a 15 minute walk (0r a 5 min taxi ride) to the market Ben Thanh. The price was great, 3 nights for the price of 2 was a bargain. Breakfast was good for the size of the hotel and paying at that price there were no complaints from us. We used the swimming pool at least twice a day to get away from the harsh sun and bustlng traffic. We would definitely book this hotel again if we are visiting Saigon next year.

“good hotel, good location”

Over all this hotel was good. The suites were large. It bothered me that I had to be in the room for the power to be on. I can understand that this was an effort to save on energy and I can wait to cool off after I get into the room. It would have been nice if there was one plug that would allow me to charge something while I was out. Instead I had to chose which appliance I would charge over night. In Hong Kong the charger was inside the safe. The beds were hard. Staff was great and the room was clean. Over all a good place to stay in HCMC

“Metropole Hotel-decent rooms out of the line of fire”

Good hotel located off the main drag of backpacker lane. Abit pricey for Vietnam, however, the rooms were clean and service was nice.

“Inside view never!”

Hotel is quite good and at reasonable price. I stayed there for 4 nights and in the first 2 nights they hosted me in a room with inside view. Is kind of claustrophobic and little. I asked to change and had to wait one night for availability. The room with outside view (in this case pool view) was pretty better and they didn't charge anything else. Restaurant has good vietnamese food.

“Good Hotel, great restaurant!”

We stayed 4 nights during newyears 2008/2009 in this hotel and we liked it very much. Hotel is somewhat older and you can clearly see that. But room was very comfortable. Our surprise was the restaurant, which serves very good food. We ended up dinning in the hotel for 3 nights instead of in town.

“To be considered”

Located in District 1, the Métropole hotel is in the most tourist friendly area of HCM-city. Hotel build in the 1960s, you can see that it has been revampted over the years. A refreshing exterior pool on the 3rd floor is there to help us cope with the 40 degrees C on the street. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. You will be able to get someone that speaks English or French to help you with your questions but that might not be the first employee that you will see in the lobby. The breakfast buffet (included) was fantastic. Some Western food (safest if not used to the other styles), some Vietnamese, some Chinese and some Japanese too... you can be adventurous if you want. From that hotel, you can walk toward the old town (with all the French colonial buildings - Opéra, Cathedral, Palace, Poste, Saigon River hotels...), a 15-20 minute walk. A taxi ride there will be less than 30 000 VND (1,50 $US). About the room ? Exectly what we wanted... One queen bed, clean, full bathroom, ...

“Typical European hotel”

Clean rooms, friendly staff. A lot of Europeans and Americans using it as a platform for seeing Vietnam. Hence, it's a good place to stay if you want to adjust slowly to a different culture. Good area to get out and walk around to see Vietnam. The area is a little too busy for my taste but that has nothing to do with the quality of the hotel.
