“Old but comfortable”

The Rex Hotel, where US generals stayed during the war has seen only cosmetic updates since then. Old bathroom fixtures and little to no soundproofing from the street noise would make me hesitate to stay there again. It is nicely located near the Reunification Palace and other attractions. So if your goal is to stay in the central city and the constant honking of cars, trucks and motorbikes wouldn't bother you, this hotel can provide a good value.

“Brilliant!!!”

Easily one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The location is great, the room was most comfortable, the food at the restaurants were great and most importantly, the staff were very polite and helpful. I stayed at the hotel on my birthday, and was very pleasantly surprised to receive a cake and flowers from the management and staff on my birthday - nice touch!! The two pools on the rooftop, though small, are great spots to unwind. The fitness center is well equipped, very clean and well staffed. If we ever visit Ho Chi Minh City again, we would most definitely stay at Rex Hotel.

Area recommendations

The hotel is centrally located and is walking distance to most of the important places in the city such as the Cathedral, the Re-unification Palace, the famous Market alongside others. There is also a small but great massage parlor very close to the hotel which we visited every day. A trip to the Chu Chi Tunnels and the Mee Kong Delta is a must for anyone visiting this city. We used the private hotel service to do our tours which included an English speaking guide, which was quite expensive but worth every dollar! The hotel's Vietnamese restaurant, located on the ground floor is fabulous - it also includes a cultural show at night time. Last but not least, the world famous roof top bar at the hotel is a "must visit".

“Excellent Hotel”

The Rex Hotel is an excellent hotel. It is historic, very well maintained, located in a prime location and one of the best hotel's in Ho Chi Minh City. The service is mostly excellent and staff nearly all speak English well to very well. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone as a strong 5 star hotel.

“Rex Hotel”

When you visit Ho Chi Minh you must stay at least one night at the Rex. The Rex is a serious piece of history you cannot miss. The hotel service is outstanding and the staff truely wants you to enjoy your stay at the hotel. Localtion is outstanding as well. The rooms are trapped in a 1960 time warp but that is part of the charm.

“Excellent option in Ho Chi Minh”

You will not get a better hotel for the same money. Breakfast are excellent, Internet is available as a free complementary service, excellent areas... Definitively, try the hotel restaurants... Very good service and location.

“Comfortable hotel, small rooms”

Rooms were a bit small and the bathrooms have not been updated in many years. Had trouble with the hotel staff coming to the room too often and, inadvertently, waking me up or trying to get into my room when I was in the bathroom/shower. While the reception was polite and extremely helpful, the hotel's tourist information desk left much to be desired. I spent 5 minutes convincing the desk's attendant to Google a restaurant address because she didn't believe it existed since she hadn't heard of it. The rooftop bar is pleasant and spacious, with a great view of the city and the street activity below.

“A Bit of History”

I specifically chose The Rex Hotel because of its history. The hotel hosted the "Five O'clock Follies", US Military briefings during the Vietnam War. The hotel is a luxury hotel in Saigon and features an excellent rooftop bar with live music. The service and the accommodations were excellent. The Rex has an great gym and two swimming pools. The location in District 1 is close to all the sights and many good restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.

Area recommendations

I would recommend that you stay in District 1. The Notre Dame Church, Reunification Palace, and Market are all within walking distance. There are many good restaurants in the area, variety of foods: Vietnamese, Indian, German, French, Italian and American.

“A nice older hotel.”

The Rex is an older established hotel with very nice amenities and history. The rooms are very nice and the pool is a great feature along with the rooftop lounge. The hotel has expanded many times throughout it's history and this shows in the building layouts. It is somewhat of a maze to navigate the hotel but not that difficult just sometimes challenging when getting around.

Area recommendations

District 1 is the center and most popular area for tourists and shoppers. Great restaurants, shopping, and access to everything in Ho Chi Minh city is available here in this area.

“Location "Great" Facility "KInda Old"”

Location is great but due to surrounding traffic some rooms that face the street are noisy but some rooms windows face internal garden/hall way are ok. Currently in renovation
