Nice hotelPosted Jul 1, 2015
Great room, clean, staff very nice. One suggestion: supply power adapters for use with 120 type appliances. Overall, great hotel.

Glamorous LocationPosted May 31, 2015
Pros: Location, quality, and kindness. See above.
Cons: Very little. The music during the wedding party I dare say?!
Location: The Rex is perfectly located if a base is what you need for either shopping or exploring the city and the banks of the river or taking a tour.
When you arrive in Ho Chi Minh or any city like it, the Rex is a haven even if only temporarily before getting out there again and seeing Vietnam for real. The service from start to finish was faultless and cheerful to a degree with sincerity. My suitcase was left at Honk Kong airport and the staff were very helpful about communicating in order to retrieve it the next day. The room was spacious, well designed and very clean and comfortable and the housekeeping staff incredibly quick, kind and efficient. Breakfast was all very fresh and nicely prepared with an international chioce, and it could be taken in any of three places including an outside area although we stayed inside in the cool. There are two rooftop pools (one more for families) with a bar, adjacent well equipped gym and a fabulous spa with some great treatments we took advantage of every day like returning Sybarites after a exploring the city and the Mekong Delta. The location and luxury comes inevitably with the big brand stores which surround you to provide the glitz and glamour, and of course the big wedding parties and cringing music, but that happily was our only wince. Thank you Rex and all of your very lovely gracious staff who never ever even hint at a tip as it's not a custom here, although never have I felt like giving one more.

Good location, but cash stolen from room safePosted May 18, 2015
Pros: Central location
Cons: Making sure staff do not have access to room safes.
Location: Pedestrian walkway that goes to the river right outside the hotel front doors. Major subway construction happeneing right next door can make it noisy.
We stayed here for 4 nights. We booked on Expedia but after requesting a room in the quiet (Executive) wing from Rex directly, we were told it would be an extra charge, which was fine. We stayed on the 2nd floor (#252) which was quiet, down the hall from the Executive lounge where breakfast, afternoon tea, and happy hour are located. Breakfast can also be taken on the 5th floor restaurant which has a wider selection- both are good. Great central location, newly built pedestrian walkway to the river is just out the door. The major downfall of our stay was that USD were stolen from our room safe, craftily so (they took 5 out of 6 major USD bills, leaving one behind) that we did not notice until after we left- this was a major disappointment. We had other valuables (iPad, cell phone, passports) in there, but cash is obviously harder to track and thus that is what was stolen. Since we did not figure this out until after we left, we did not contact Rex directly, but after telling our tour operator, our tour operator contacted them for us. We do not expect anything back obviously, but just posting this to share our lesson learned which is: Do not assume your valuables are safe in a room safe.

非常に便利な立地Posted May 13, 2015
部屋は広く、快適。バスタブがないのが残念。 数年後、urban鉄道が開通すればホーチミンの中央部で更によくなる。 玄関前は人民委員会広場、まさに最高の立地となる。

This hotel has seen better days. It needs a major overhaul. Breakfast was nothing special. Will not stay here again.
