“Good service, clean room, great location”

“Excellent hotel in Ho Chi Minh City”

This is an excellent choice for Saigon. It is very reasonably price and you get great value for your money. The hotel is extremely clean. The breakfast is one of the best that I have had. They have a very large selection of foods. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Terrific hotel and staff, and in a fine location to see this city!”

Hotel management and staff are very professional and work to present a very fine quality hotel, thus making visitors welcome. This modern hotel is very attractive, and offers a very nice restaurant. It is situated in a very nice central location of the city. The breakfast was excellent with many choices. Service overall is excellent with many of the staff able to understand English. One day I became very ill and the hotel's desk staff summoned an old physician for a 'house call.' Well, I missed that day's scheduled tour to the Mekong Delta, but I was refunded the fee. Then by dinner time I felt wonderful; but don't know what the medications were the old doctor gave me. It was miraculous. We would return to this hotel any time, but we were disappointed in the hotel's spa and its services.

Area recommendations

Hotel's location in this historic city permits healthy walks to several points of interest, however, like other major cities in Vietnam the road traffic is extremely hazardous for pedestrians crossing roadways; as traffic control and 'rules of the road' are apparently nonexistent! Taxi service, and tours, can be acquired from hotel staff, and trips about are convenient. Visitors to Ho Chi Minh City (aka/Saigon) should consider personal tours to the major historic city highlights, and other areas within a few hours drive from the city which are listed on all travel information sites.

Getting around

Tours to sites are excellent and the best way to get around. There are so many things to see in the city and all across the countryside.

Shopping

Hotel is about one block from a famous indoor market and after 6:00 p.m. much of it sets up outside on the street for a festive evening environment. Just outside of the hotel's restaurant there are shops that will fabricate a custom tailored suit in a matter of hours! So much to see and so much to consider purchasing.

“Not impressed”

It is a budget hotel with a small lobby. The hall way is narrow but our room is big and clean. The free breakfast is excellent. The hotel is located opposite a park and a public market in District 1.Sound proofing of the window needs some improvement.

“New but not impressed”

The hotel is new and well located but not impressive. It has a narrow front with at least eight steps up to the lobby. The location is mixed as it is close to the central shoping districts and tourist sites. However the neighborhood is not upscale. We checked in after midnight and it was painless. Because my wife is Vietnames we had to show our marriage license but they did not take the time to make a copy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator is small and located in the dining room so when you check out in the morning you have to manage moving luggage throuygh as people eat breakfast. The breakfast was a 2 out of five. The room was clean. There was no chair for the desk and the room finish and furnishings was lower 3 star. The tub was higher than normala nd not easy to enter or exit. The internet was free and it worked fairly easily. I will probably not use this hotel again when transiting through from work to home. There are better values in better locations available.

Area recommendations

I always stay in District 1 as that is where the better hotels are and for convenience. You can walk the streets and shop safely. Also it is convenient to the ferry terminal that services Vung Tau where we live.

Getting there

If you want to go to the beach from Ho Chi Minh city the best option is to take the ferry on the Saigon River. The boauts are old Russian hydrofoils with rounded art deco design. The offer air conditioned space and cost about $10. The price has risen 30% over the past 3 years but it is a bargin. The ferry operators operare from 6:30 AM to around 6:30 PM. The trip is 1.5 hours compared to a taxi trip for 4 hours on bad roads with worse drives. The road is filled with large trucks and busses. Avoid the road if at all possible.

“Awesome location”

Great location. Half block away from Cho Ben Thanh. Hotel is very clean and staff is friendly. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast food was decent. It's about a 10 minute walk to backpackers area. Just be careful corssing the street.

“adequate”

The service was ok, the location ok if you want to be in the tourist area - it is close to everything. Beware of the internet - not secure at all. Lots of adware and spyware when you connect to the hotel site. The shower curtain in my room stunk so that the whole room had an odour but I had to ASK them to change the shower curtain. If you are not used to a lot of smoke when you are eating - be prepared to inhale some as smoking is permitted everywhere in the restaurant. The breakfast omlettes were good and there was a nice assortment of fruit as well if you did not want to indulge the Vietnamese fare early morning. I stayed at the hotel for nine nights and when I asked for a late check out of an hour and a half, I was told I would be charged for it. All thetaxis will try to rip you off if you are not familiar with the currency - Mai Linh taxi service seemed to be honest most of the time. Drink only bottled water and be leery of people trying to snatch your belongings. The Notre Dame Saigon church is beautiful.
