Nice hotel close to Tanh Binh Market

Posted Dec 19, 2013
Pros: Clean hotel, very courteous staff.
Location: Close to Tanh Binh Market where garments at wholesale prices can be bought.
The staff were very helpful although spoke little English. They were hospitable. Food served for breakfast was Vietnamese and was quite healthy with lots of veggies and fruits. Quite a long haul from District 1 (around $6 by taxi, one way), but that was okay coz it was more quiet area, less crazy.

Don't stay here

I made a reservation for 3 nights. On the 3rd day, at 3pm, the hotel management said I had only 2-night reservation and asked me to leave. I found out that they had a big group coming in from Hanoi. Apparently some came without a reservation and MY ROOM was needed by the group. I had a hard time finding another hotel for that night. The front desk, house cleaning and security staff was very nice. But do NOT trust the reservation and management people (located off-site)!

Leaves little to be desired for the weary traveler

Posted Feb 22, 2013
Pros: It was a roof over our head for the night
Cons: See above too many to mention sadly
Location: Location is ok in a busy street near the airport but lots of noise comes up from outside into your room.
Very disappointing! When we arrived a staff member was in our room using the bathroom ... Why we still don't know. There was also rubbish in the room. Staff don't speak appropriate English especially given they are dealing mostly with non Vietnamese guests. Breakfast is very disappointing - Asian food is the only option which doesn't suit a western palate. The exterior balcony doors/windows do not lock and it doesn't feel safe or secure. Reception staff hold your passport while you stay there which also didn't sit right with me. Obviously they don't have a photocopier. Lift is ok but cramped when you include suitcases. Bed mattress is very thin/hard making for a sore back the next day. No hot water for shower. Bathroom otherwise is ok but needs renovation/updating.

Scruffy hotel, the staff struggle to communicate and there was absolutely no choice of food for breakfast unless you like noodles and curry. Even the tea and coffee were poor.
