Booked but no roomPosted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: Did not get to stay there but they had our $267 tariff for 2 1/2 months.
Cons: Booking skills
Location: Events at Mona . Salamanca markets.
Booked a room with water views but bumped off to Hotel Lenna up the hill as they had overbooked our room. Not happy. Turned down bottle of wine appeasement offer.

Close to all the actionPosted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: We have stayed there before 15 years ago, and other than the general ageing of the facilities the hotel still delivers a wonderful stay.
Cons: Could do with an upgrade.
Location: Tour agents, restaurants and cafes , Hotel parking and if you are lucky enough the Saturday markets , which are world class.
The Hotel is close to all the restaurants and touring facilities . The Harbour adds to the wonderful ambience that surrounds Hobart City.

Excellent location, even better service!Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: The staff were fantastic and the location is superb!
Cons: Shower was quite dated and was difficult to get just the right temp as a result. Cleanliness could be better. It lacked that fresh/clean feel.
Location: Ideal location - very close to Salamanca Markets and Mona ferry :) could see it could get quite noisy though with restaurants beneath us...
One of the most memorable parts of our trip was the service we received at Somerset. The staff there were more than accomodating and seemed genuinely happy to help. We were able to check in early, leave our bags until we were able to and even leave them behind after check out and pick up just before leaving for the airport! This made such a big difference to our trip, my only regret is not letting them know just how much it meant! Thanks Somerset!

Location ExcellentPosted Jan 31, 2014
Definitely the place to be. Very central with fantastic views of harbour, city and mountain. Staff were brilliant and even provided early check-in. Apartment floorplan is good and caters for privacy with non balcony rooms and balcony for harbour views. Bathrooms are not on same floor as bedroom and could be a hassle, however does provide the bedroom with the refreshing state of being just that, a bedroom only and a balcony to compliment it. Facelift for apartments should definitely on the cards. Centrality has its draw backs of added noise from tourists and restaurants but it provided us with the perfect atmosphere.

Great locationPosted Jan 10, 2014
This hotel is in the best location in Hobart with magnificent views. The only problem is that the rooms are noisy, the walls are very thin and you can clearly hear people's conversations in the next next room. Also lots of noise coming from ducts. We mentioned this problem to reception and they were happy to move us to another room, which we did. The new room was just as noisy and to our disappointment instead of a king bed which we had in the previous room we were downsized to a queen bed - very disappointing.

Top spot to use as a base in the centre of the waterfront. Great outlook & reasonably peaceful.

Excellent in all respectsPosted Jan 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Can't beat the location, especially during the Christmas/new year period when all the yachts are in tassie and there's are people enjoying themselves at the Taste of Tassie. Lovely room, great service. Highly recommended.

Excellent service, great locationPosted Jan 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
I've stayed at Somerset on the Pier quite a few times. This stay we had to park blocks away due to the Taste festival. It was just after New Year's Eve and when I entered my room the window was open and fan was on. There was a smell of vomit. Staff were lovely, room was good - both the aircon and washing machine had been upgraded since my last stay. If you can get a good deal, this apartment hotel has the best location. But also consider the newer Salamanca Wharf Hotel, which is great. Going forward I'll stay at whichever has the best price.

Reasonably nice hotel - basics only!Posted Dec 28, 2013
The only thing going for this hotel is the location. Pipes are ridiculously noisy, staff are unhelpful and the hotel provides basics only. In saying that great views but would not be staying here again.
