Great hotel in a great location

Posted Jan 27, 2015
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff at the hotel, which continued throughout our entire stay. The hotel overall and room we stayed in was amazing. Great art all around and lovely little touches of architecture that make the hotel really special. We will definitely be back. Thanks to all at HJH.

Great location and comfortable!

Posted Jan 16, 2015
Loved the location...close walking distance to Salamanca and town. We stayed in Studio Loft 1 which was very comfortable, athough a bit noisy in the morning due to garbage trucks. Bedroom was upstairs with bathroom and living area down, so not good if you have any issues with stairs (didn't bother us). Our only gripe was that the cafes downstairs in the Atrium area all closed by 5pm, which meant there were not many options for food (only the fine dining restaurant or very limited room service menu) since it was raining and we didn't feel like going out.

A real disappointment

Posted Jan 5, 2015
After all the hype, the Henry Jones Hotel was a real disappointment. It wasn't that there was anything intrinsically bad or wrong about it - it's just that there wasn't anything special or remarkable about it either, despite its billing as the best hotel in Tasmania (it isn't: we stayed in many better places during our ten days on the island). We stayed in one of the Artist Studio Lofts, which felt very detached from the rest of the hotel, and, because of all the functions going on in the atrium immediately downstairs, very noisy. The bathroom was small and plastic and the whole vibe of the hotel was very corporate - a million miles away from the arty, boutique hotel I was hoping for.

Relaxing break in Hobart

Posted Dec 22, 2014
Pros: Mainly the building which had a real sense of history and the staff.
Cons: Maybe more staff in the Long Bar at busy times
Location: We were very lazy but we went back to MONA and also checked out Mawson's huts. Plus this time we were there for the Salamanca markets
We travelled as a couple and wanted to stay at this hotel as we had seen it on a previous visit to Hobart. The central position meant we were in walking distance to everything but our room was quiet and peaceful. The staff were first class and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a loft room which was a different experience for us but we enjoyed it.We will be back!

Fabulous hotel in the heart of Hobart

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: Everything....location, the rooms, the staff. Oh, did i mention the food!
Cons: Alls well.
Location: Walk to nearby attractions, museums, eateries, ferries to museums, historical buildings, fresh seafood etc etc
Stayed for two nights at this fabulous hotel, and were looked after by the exceptionally friendly staff. The rooms were superb, the views towards Salamanca were great, and everything was within walking distance. Do yourselves a favour, book a dinner at the inhouse restaurant, you will have one of the best meals of your life. A long and extensive wine list rounded out dinner nicely. This hotel will be our choice when we return to Hobart in March. Looking forward already!

I remember the staff.

Posted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: Staff especially.
Location: You would not get too much of a better location as a tourist.
Arrived early evening and checked out the next morning. It was one of those drizzly Hobart days, both of them, and it stuck out how easy the people made things. Somebody holding an umbrella over my wife as she carried our infant to the car was a nice touch. The staff seemed genuinely nice. Everything is new, crisp and comfortable. I was actually expecting less than what we received regards the room. Spacious. Nice facilities. Our room was slightly noisy. I would put this down to the night we stayed. I assume it was when rubbish and recycables are picked up. However, also some other vehicle movements that reverberated.
