“clean hotel great location! TERRIBLE BEDS!!”
After searching a variety of sites after the "perfect"hotel to enjoy my trip to Hoi An in I secured 5 nights here. To say the hotel is amazing is an understatement. I was blown away by the amenities such as the pool, restaraunts and reception areas. The grounds are also immacuatley maintained with staff cleaning pathways and gardens every day. This was the number one resort reccommended by expedia so I was expecting nothing but the best- I was however, let down by the bed. It was as hard as a coffin and the bedding was really lumpy!!! We ended up getting our rooms changed to the one nxt door but after 3 nights of sleeping on it it started to taKE its toll. I thought they could have at least up graded our rooms for the trouble! The staff were not as rude as some of the reviews however the odd unpleasant one out shone the helpfullness of many others. I would reccommend this hotel if you were staying in perhaps the better suites and the beds were better- no view can heal an aching back!! be careful who you hire motor bikes from
“Staffs at front are not friendly. But staff at restuarant is very friendly and helpful”
The staffs at front desk are not so fiendly and have no common sense. They seperate our bookign which ahd book 3 rooms in the same time in 3 different building. But our group are contain with 2 young kids age 7 and 9 years old and 3 senior people age 64, 67, and 72. So I told them to put room close to each other. In beginning they said we didn't mentioned to request room close to each other. But I think the common sesnes when you book 3 rooms in same booking that mean they will come together. How come they assign 3 rooms in 3 different building. But finally we insit and we did get 3 rooms close by even it's different floor but still in same building.
“Would gladly come back”
Our stay here was a nice relaxing respite in a busy trip through Vietnam. It was nice to always come back to the relaxing grounds of the Golden Sands after a fun day going around Hoi An. The cab ride was cheap, and we took the shuttle when it was convenient. Staff were very nice at hotel. Breakfast was quite good...not perfect...but quite good. The hotel is beautiful, but it's definitely showing its age in small ways...really nothing major to complain about, but things like worn out caulk in bathtub and other aspects of the place being a little tired. However, none of this swayed me from liking the place. Plus we got a pretty good price.
“Excellent hotel, children friendly, nice pool.”
It was kind of far away but you get the private beach. Good size of pool, children friendly, the room was big & clean, but the bed is kind of too soft for me.
“Satisfactory, but could use improvement”
We stayed at the Golden Sand Report for one night in Hoi An att he beginning of January. The lobby was very impressive, as it was open air and had beuaitful woodwork. The staff was great at check-in. The outdoor pool was also very nice, being one of the biggest (if not the biggest) in VIetnam. The rooms themselves were satisfactory, but not the 4 and 1/2 stars it was rated. I would give it a 3, especially because of the bathrooms. They were definitely dated, and cuold use updating. We also found a few mosquitos in our room. When we informed housekeeping, they said they would take care of it while we went out during the day. Upon our return, we found the mosquitos gone. At the pool bar, possibly because there were only a few people out there, when we ordered drinks with the wait staff, it took him about half an hour before he returned with four drinks. Overall, though we've stayed at worse hotels, the Golden Sand was a bit of a disappointment, I think we set our expectations higher than we should have. It was probably one of the best hotels in the area, but we noticed that the Hyatt was being developed nearby...so if we're in Hoi An or Da Nang in the future, we'll probably stay there instead.
“Great Pool, Shocking Service”
The only real negative was our activities saga; we booked 2 Jet Skis for 8am we arrived we noticed they hadnt been put in so i checked that they remembered then they said 5 minutes. 1 hour later after 3 enquires and getting the supervisor we had them both in. Then however one didnt work so we waited another 15 minutes for another one. We finally headed out, both Jetskis were faulty with one only going half the speed of the other, the fast ones oil light was on and engine was surging due to low oil cutoff. We took them both back in after about 8 minutes and asked not to be charged. This is where it got ugly. I asked to speak to the manager of activities and he said they were both fine and he had been watching us. Even though he met me in the lobby having just stepped out of a car. They were adament of charging me for 15 minutes. I asked to speak to the hotel manager and was refused. I then wrote to Mr Frederick the manager of the hotel and hand delivered the letter to reception on check out. Deciding to just pay for the Jetskis and hoping he would reply to my letter by email as requested. No such luck. Very disappointing event when you are paying more than double that of great 4 stars in Hoi An per night to be told your a liar by service staff and be refused a conversation with the manager. Our banana boat booking we also booked never showed up which was also disappointing. If you just want to lay by a 160m pool this is the place for you. If you want service steer clear
