Picked this hotel at random at a convenient stopping point on our tour of New England. What a lovely find! May not look very distinctive from the outside (drove past it twice) but well worth the effort.
Holderness is not large but there are plenty of walks in the area and trips on the lakes. Squam Lake Inn is close to all of these.
Very friendly and obliging staff, good bar and a great restaurant serving imaginative "specials".
It made no pretence at being a large slick hotel but is a well run family hotel offering cosy comfort. One that we remember with fondness and would certainly recommend (and return to).

Amazing stay. The only complaint that I have is that I didnt stay at the Manor longer. We were in town to see a concert during Laconia Bike Week and unbeknown to us most of the hotels were sold out. We had no idea what a gorgeous property we were getting when we booked so we did not spend a lot of time here but we did enjoy a wonderful breakfast the next morning and walked the beautiful grounds before checking out. The inn keeper was lovely and really made us feel welcomed. I cannot wait to go back for a visit with my husband when we can spend some quality time on the property.

"Great little spot on the nicest lake in central NH"
This is an older but very well maintained property on a lovely clear lake in central NH. "On Golden Pond' was filmed here and the lake is restful and great for families with kids or couples on romantic getaway. The folks who own it take obvious pride in its appearance and are always available if anything is needed. It is not fancy, but very clean and nicer than most rustic hotels I've seen. There is fresh coffee and breakfast snacks ready early. The units have heat for early fall and a lovely screened porch facing the lake so you can play cards. The price is very good. We stayed at peak foliage and it was very affordable. They also have summer weekly rates that are very very affordable. Free use of canoes, kayaks and a lovely sandy beach are less than 75 feet from all units and there is a great General Store nearby (has great breakfast food and good wine selection) and an outstanding restaurant less than 1/2 mile away. This is a taste of NH and Squam lake from another era at a great price.
