Improving quality and condition of hotel.

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Staff, location, and convenience.
Cons: Noise or sound limit after hours.
Location: Saugatuck and Douglas Michigan downtown arts and entertainment.
Staff is very helpful, and they are making cosmetic changes to the hotel. However, much noise at night and conversations and television can be heard through the walls at night. A sound or noise limit after hours would help.

No frills and clean, but not very secure.

Posted Oct 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Timberline is definitely no frills. We were greeted warmly, the check in was easy, the room was clean. It is a true motel style L-shape with all room doors adjacent to the parking. That makes security more important. The deadbolts only work from the inside so the only lock is an old school front home door lock. The room had a control for a sleep number bed that made a motor whirl, but didn't work. When we returned at 9:30 pm the office was closed. No staff the rest of the night, which was unnerving. Multiple guests had unleashed dogs on the grounds but they didn't present any issues. The continental breakfast was some yogurt, milk, coffee, English muffins and a few store bought pastries. Nice that they try to do that, but we passed. They are apparently remodeling into a 1960's Miami style "resort" to be called the Starlight. It was okay, but I would not stay there again.

Small Motel in the woods

Posted Aug 30, 2014
We stayed only for one night... if only we could stayed more! The motel is placed in the woods just outside the town center of Saugatuck, which is a wonderful little town). It has a pool a nice and very neat lawn and it has been recently renewed.

In Progress

Posted Aug 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
The place is in transition and has a long way to go. But the setting is nice and the location away from the frey. Even at high traffic time of summer this room is not worth $99. Hope they continue to make improvements.

Good enough for one night. Wouldn't stay a week. Needs more charm in rooms and the grounds. Understand it's under new ownership and changes and upgrades are in the works. Location was very convenient to Saugatuck and Douglas.

a work in progress

Pros: price, grounds, has a nice retro feel.
Cons: Room is tired, walls are thin between bathroom and room....needs remodeling, but not intolerable for just a place to sleep while in the area.
Location: Nice location right on the blue star hwy. Very quick trip over to downtown Saugatuck.
Knew it was going to be less than perfect due to the transition and remodeling and was willing to deal with that for the price. Pool and grounds are nice. Staff is getting the hang of things. Should be nice once it is finished, but will probably become more expensive.
