Recommended: I liked the Austrotel. If you're going to be walking from the train station, it's a little bit of a walk, but nothing terrible. People at the front desk were nice. Recommended: The hotel is good in general. The location is perfect on the river and close to many cafes and good resturants. The staff at the reception were very helpful. Recommended: This hotel was in a great location- near shops and must see sights. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was served daily and provided a good start to a day on foot. Recommended: The hotel is in a great location, on a pedestrian only street, 5 min walk to the river and across it the fortress and all the tourist sites. The rooms are large and comfortable, well furnished, nice big bathroom too, and the hotel has an elevator ! (It does not have a restaurant, but serves a breakfast buffet.) Recommended: This hotel was wonderful! The rooms are furnished with Austrian antique style furnishings but yet the rooms have all the amenities a traveler would want. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and restful. The staff at the hotel was wonderful ... helping us with many questions. Great location ... right in the center of historic Salzburg. Recommended: we were not blown away by the goldene ente. the rooms were quite outdated. our bathroom had no shower head attachment, so you had to take a sitting bath every time. the TV didn't work. no wireless. stuffy old furniture. on the plus side, the location is great and the reception very friendly. it's an okay hotel. just don't expect anything spectacular. Recommended: Location was good for sightseeing and restaurants.Room was small; I would not recommend the room with single bed accomodations. I would suggest booking a room in the rear of the hotel as it would be less noisy.
