“Not bad for the price”

“Will definitely stay there again”

Very convenient location since I wanted to go to the wildlife park next door. We actually walked across the little bridge by the swimming pool that went over the river to get to the park. Didn't have to drive to the park! What a plus! The staff was pleasant and helpful and the rooms were clean. Nice pool too. The small bar/restaurant was busy with locals and I found out why; the food was really good and reasonably priced. The continental breakfast consisted of cereal, milk, juice, coffee, tea, apples, and make your own toast and waffles. At least that's what was out when I got there. I was slightly skeptic about booking the place because it was so cheap, but it was a great decision. The Bella Oasis was probably previously a Holiday Inn or some chain hotel and is bigger than I expected for the small town of Homosassa, FL.

Area recommendations

Being that Homosassa, FL, is just a small town, the only really big "attraction" is the Ellie Schiller Wildlife Park, which is located just off the corner of US 19 and SR 460. Also, there is a Walgreen's, CVS, Hardee's, a really nice fruit stand, and a shopping center with a Publix grocery store all within a couple of blocks. And just a block east of 19 on 460 is a nice playground with swings and slides, etc. The wildlife park is just that - a park with lots of open (altho confined by fences) spaces for the animals. It's not a zoo with animals in cages. Weather permitting, you ride a pontoon boat from the visitor's center to the actuall park entrance. Otherwise, they have a covered tram that you ride over. The pontoon ride goes along the waterway that runs throughout the park. The park guide gave a synopsis of the park's history during the ride. At the park we saw Lu, the famous hippo (he's been in the movies), gators, key deer, black bear, snakes, turtles, swans, ducks, fish, and, of course, the main draw, the manatees. There is a 'one of a kind' underwater observatory where you walk downstairs and thru 5" thick plexiglass view the numerous types of fish, and, of course, the manatees. There are a couple of gift shops and a really nice snack bar. Plus they have strollers available if you forget to bring one. There is a box for a voluntary donationy. The wildlife park is a really cool place to visit and I highly recommend it.

“Waiting for summer”

Can't wait until the weather changes and we can go back. Very close to Crystal River and Homossa, taking kids and boat next time. Hotel has the resturaunt and bar very convenient and priced right. This was a quick weekend trip for my husband and I but found many great things to do when we come back with the kids.

Hotel was medicore, it was an older facility. Pool view is pleasant, but street view is hideous. Close to Manatee Park.

“Don't leave anything behind here, you'll never see it again!”

The hotel was nice. It was a great location, clean, large & roomy. Everything I expected & more. Was there for Christmas & I brought the tree & presents, which all fit well in the living area. It was so close to Homosassa Springs State Park that we just walked down the sidewalk across the lawn. However, in the end the hotel was not satisfactory in what they did when we left. I checked out the room pretty well but I didn't do a 2nd check through as I was in a hurry. Consequently I forgot to pack my slippers which were at the foot of the bed and were hidden by the comforter. I called them and they told me they didn't have them. They never called me back to tell me what happened to them. I called for 3 consecutive days and they still denied knowledge of them. The slippers were a gift, not replaceable. By the way, the sodas in the machine are flat.

The park next door for the manatee viewing.

When to go

When the water is cold in the Gulf, the wild manatees come up to the park next door. Go in Winter.

“Would go back again.”

I wasn't expecting much, so it was a little better than I was expecting. The rooms are nice and large, but could definitely use a remodeling. It's nice having the wildlife center within walking distance right next door.

“DECENT ROOM FOR THE MONEY”

Pictures look a little better than the actual. On a scale from 1 to 5 on cleanliness, I would rate the rooms about a 3.5. The rooms needed to be painted and trim work finished and the carpets were stained but the beds were pretty comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The food at the rest. was good and Karaoke was fun and the free breakfast waffles were pretty good.Overall though, it was a good room for the money.

Area recommendations

Homosassa Springs is beautiful! We had a once in a lifetime experience swimming with the manatees and we will go back as often as we can.

Dining

Cody's Roadhouse is a favorite for our family and friends. Excellent service and food at reasonable prices.

“ok for the money”

This hotel is not the greatest, also not the worst. It was about half the price of all the other hotels in the area. It was very average. Beds not the most comfortable. Breakfast was good. The pool was good. Call ahead to make sure they cool your room before you get there. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Fatboys bbq was excellent, and the staff was very friendly!
