Short weekend breakPosted Aug 24, 2014
From a very late arrival to our Sunday morning departure, we always felt so relaxed at this hotel and at all times the calm friendly staff were superbly helpful and informative without ever being intrusive during our stay. And the hotel location is perfectly located next door to a very good shopping mall and MTR station on the Island Line. And do NOT leave East without spending some quality time at Sugar, East's own rooftop bar with the most amazing harbour views - get there as the sun goes down to see the lights coming on across Hong Kong. Amazing.

Open concept gone a bit too farPosted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: The staff were good Linens very clean Bed was comfortable Close to MTR, and connected to the Mall
Cons: Enclose the shower and Frost the glass!!!!!!!!!!! Get black out blinds! room was too bright!
Location: Connected to a Mall and MTR station. Lots of restaurants and shops.
Honestly, if the shower was just enclosed and frosted for some privacy, East would get 4 stars. I see why they advertise as a "business hotel". If you're staying by yourself, the open shower is fine I suppose, but definitely awkward if you're staying with a friend, or if you have friends visiting your room. The Toilet is behind frosted glass, but you can see your silhouette when you're inside. Also, the light switches were sooooooo confusing!!! With the Open concept bathroom, you can't really turn on just the washroom lights. There was a little tiny LED light in the toilet, but I never figured out how to turn it on without turning on a few other laps in the room (i stayed there for 6 nights!). Too focused on design, and not the functionality. The blinds looked good, but barely served its purpose of blocking out light.

First class hotel in convenient locationPosted May 19, 2014
Pros: Very modern and stylish. Good sized, comfortable rooms. Small but well equipped gym. Heated outdoor swimming pool.
Cons: There was no a la carte breakfast option, which means that you have to pay HK$ 218 for the buffet, even if you only want a bowl of cereal.
Location: The hotel is joined to City Plaza, the largest shopping mall in Hong Kong, and is directly above the Taikoo MTR station.
This is primarily a business hotel. Nonetheless, its convenient location directly on the MTR made it a good choice for exploring HK. It was very comfortable and the staff were very attentive. The food in the restaurant was excellent, but expensive and the restaurant itself was a little austere and lacked atmosphere. The rooftop "Sugar" bar on the 32nd floor is very trendy and gives spectacular views of east HK over the bay.

Comfy beds and nice big windows....Posted May 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
No easy to see clock in room - just on ipod. Lighting not great once it has gone dark outside.

Great hotel for TaiKoo businessPosted Apr 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel conveniently located walking distance from TaiKoo business offices. Plenty of restaurants nearby including on the facility itself ("feast" on 1st floor, and "Sugar" - a rooftop bar with great views and decent drinks). Shopping mall and MTR station directly attached which makes it accessible and convenient. Nice gym and a pool. Valet laundry. Wifi available and free but tends to be slow at times. Use wired if you want to run VoIP call or watch video over IP. Staff speaks good English and very friendly. Rooms are large in HKG standards and well equipped. Very nice design. Taxi ride to Central/Causeway-Bay takes 10-30 minutes depending on time of day. Expect 50 HKD or so. MTR ride makes more sense during rush hour, especially with MTR station being practically next door. Airport will be an additional 40 minute ride from Central, but you may want to take the Airport-Express train instead (100 HKD one way). My only complaint about this hotel is that their loyalty program is not affiliated with most airlines/hotel-chains I use, and I stay there quite often.

Great location; very nice room.Posted Apr 27, 2014
Location is excellent -- right next to Tai Koo metro station, and linked directly to very large mall. Rooftop lounge is a must-visit -- good food and excellent cocktails (try the Dragon G).
