Adequate hotel for a short stay

Posted Jan 19, 2013
Pros: The showers and the comfortable bed.
Cons: The dark lifts, bad food, lack of storage space and traffic noise.
Location: % minutes walk fro Tin Hua MTR , very busy street outside. Close to Causeway Bay but not in the main area.
We stayed here because our son had been booked in by his work We spent 6 nights in total which is much longer than the average stay. Our room was small for 2 people but the shower was very good, the bathroom worked and the bed was comfortable. Our TV set did not work on arrival and it was unclear for 2 hours if this was going to be fixed. This is a problem as all information is on the interactive screen. Our son had problems with the TV remote in his room and had similar issues with hotel service.. The main down sides were: 1. The lifts were very dark. It was hard to see where to activate them with your key and where your floor button was . Very slow and a long wait for pick ups. 2. The storage space is very limited -Ok for a single person on an overnight business stay but not 2 people for a week 3. The rooms are not well sound proofed. If you were below the 15th floor (we were on 8) then loud traffic noise accelerating up the incline to the next set of lights keeps you awake from 5-30 am. Lots of noise from the jack hammers of the building site opposite and trucks going to the waste disposal and public tioilet which is the main scenic feature outside the hotel. 4. Breakfast was very poor and not worth paying for. Internet access Ok if you have it pre-booked but expensive otherwise. There is only limited space on the ground floor public area.. Think carefully before you book this hotel for more than one night.

"Fallen Empire"

Pros: Strong shower and plenty of hot water.
Cons: The room and the short bed.
Location: Close to MTR, Starbucks & McDonalds
The staff are not at all engaging, really just checked you in and that was that! Housekeeping was tardy & we were required to request room make up and mini bar restock on two occasions after we had been out for the majority of the day. The bed fell short by approximately 12-15 inches which meant I was hanging out of the end of the bed, alright if you are under 5 feet 8 inches. Lift is extremely slow and there are absolutely no facilities like gym or swimming pool. Great proximity to MTR which works like a dream however we would recommend that you stay around Central if your budget extends that far.

Not as good as before

Posted Dec 24, 2012 on Hotels.com
I have been staying in this hotel for 3 times in the past 4 years. The first 2 stays were very nice. Even though the size of he room is typical HK style(very small), it has everything you need. The location is very convenient, and the neighborhood is quiet and convenient. However, the recent stay has some downgrade. After 4 years, the hotel appears to be obviously wear off.(The furniture and equipment inside the room does not appear nice anymore.) The room is only average clean now. Also, the elevator is very slow.

Good location

Posted Dec 7, 2012
Pros: It's location
Cons: The room size
Location: It's a 3 minutes walk from the Ting Hau MTR station. It's also a 5 minutes walk from the A11 bus stop from the airport, a very convenient location
The room is really small but I had stayed at other hotels in Causeway Bay, the rooms were just as small. The price was right and it's very convenient for transportation and food. I was under the impression that the room has wi-fi, but it didn't. I had to pay an additional $15 US per 24 hours for internect connection. I was not too happy with this.

Great Connectivity by bus, MTR and Tram

Posted Nov 12, 2012 on Hotels.com
Comfortable stay, though the view from hotel rooms is not great. But where it lacks, the hotel makes up with connectivity by MTR, Trams and buses. Comfortable stay over all !!

Room is MUCH smaller than it looks in the photographs also there is no automatic wifi you have to pay $140HK/day per device. Pretty convenient if you dont want to pay more to stay in Central. Hotel is nice though, good for if you won't be in your room much.
