“Cheap, no frills, but everything you expect”
Apropos to the two negative reviews here, I found this hotel to be quite pleasant, if not a little small. Remember, this is Hong Kong, and if you want a little luxury, then go to Langham Place down the road and pay 5 times the price. I did get a little shocked at the size of the room when I first entered, but once I got settled in, it was fine. Suitcases fit underneath the bed. The room I got was for one person only, you wouldnt be able to have any guests over. The elevators aren't literally outside, they are accessed via a security door, which they give you a swipe card to access. My room was generally very clean. Again, being in Mongkok, one of the busiest areas, you cant expect the windows to be sound proof with the price you are paying. Bathroom was also very clean. The whole room did serve as the shower stall, however this is typical of how some residences are in Hong Kong, so if you are unfamiliar with this then you might find it a little strange. Only problem I had was running out of hot water, as the hot water tank only held so much hot water at a time. Free internet wifi served its purpose. It was very slow at times, but then fast at other times. Its not hard to find free wifi hotspots around Hong Kong anyway. As I went to Hong Kong by myself for this trip, I chose the cheapest hotel I could find. Hotel MK served its purpose, as I was just using it as a place to sleep. If I was travelling with a friend, then I would definitely choose a bigger hotel.
“Good hotel”
This is a good hotel and well located. The single rooms are a little tight space wise but this is to be expected in a dense area like Hong Kong. Recommended. Clean and recently renovated.
“Small But Adequate”
The room is small but it has everything you'll need from a hotel. The hotel is a good choice if you spend most of your time outside and just need a place to sleep.
“This hotel does the job”
If you want downtown, central, and budget, this is the place. Tiny but clean. Recommended for those who just need a place to sleep.
“expensive for what u get!”
room are extremelly small.. very expensive for what u get. stayed here cos of convenience and not many other online options... staff at reception is rude sometimes...its been refurnished a bit more better now but still too much expensive. Near mtr though
“Smallest hotel room ever”
Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Smallest hotel room I have ever seen. Room was about 2meter by 2meter. The double bed just fit in the room, by about 10centimeters. I went to complain that I had booked a superior room. The lady said the difference between a standard room and superior room is you get a window! Do not stay here. Over priced.
“Will Not Be Going Back”
Too expensive for what it is. Room too small. Service poor.
“Same Old Tatami- don't get fooled by the new name and photos”
This place was awful when it was Tatami & is still awful as the MK. RECEPTION: No internal access to the elevators, you have to go outside. ROOM: walls cracked, exposed conduit, unfinished concrete, poor paint job, total of 5.5x5.5-ft of space to stand or put suitcases in the room. Windows do not seal and let in lots of noise. Bed was comfortable, sheets & room generally clean. BATHROOM: was only 2.5-ft wide, many mildew stains, not completely painted, paint was flaking off, exposed piping, exposed conduit. Sink had no hot water, was small and on a deteriorating wood stand. The whole room served as the shower stall. FREE INTERNET never worked in the room or in the lobby. ELEVATOR: locked me in once for about 5 minutes. STAFF: Friendly, but did not really know much. TAKE THIS OFF OF THE LISTING FOR EXPEDIA!!! IT IS JUST OO SUBSTANDARD FOR THE NO INFLATED PRICE - ALMOST DOUBLE OF 3-4 YEARS AGO!
