A very pleasant stayPosted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: spacious convenient for public transport have a variety of local eating areas/shops
Cons: have a big clock in the hotel lobby a library/quiet reading/writing area so one can sit quietly and think, away from all the noises in the lobby
Location: Ultra modern shopping Plaza: New Town, City Link Sha Tin Town Hall with cantonese opera performance, Sha Tin Garden Chinese university
We booked a room for 2 adults and I asked for 2 single beds. On arrival we got upgraded to a double room with 2 double beds with no extra cost. Very nice of the hotel. The room is very spacious, especially compared with HK standard and our room overlooked the river with good views. The hotel has got good facilities. I used the spa and the Thai massage service which was excellent. The price was not cheap but the lady who did the Thai massage did it thoroughly and expertly. My muscle aches were gone and I had a very good sleep afterwards. Will definitely come back to this hotel. The location is good as it is near to local eating areas and there is an ultra modern shopping plaza in the New Town nearby. Very convenient for public transport. Bus stops are right at the front of the hotel and one can get A41 from the Airport straight to the hotel.

Not What We Expected, More Research Would be HelpPosted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: The room had three beds, which was nice since we had three in our group. The dim sum at the second floor restaurant was delicious.
Cons: The bathroom definitely needs attention and should be renovated to match the rest of the room.
Location: Hotel is a 20 minute walk from shopping (Shatin New Town Center) and there's a great jogging path steps from the hotel entrance.
All in all, the Regal Riverside hotel isn't bad. Actually a great value. We had 3 in our group and it was nice that our room had 3 beds. The room itself was nice with plenty of space for everyone and their belongings. It was brightly lit and the flat screen tv was the perfect size. The bathroom left much to be desired. It was clean, but it's appearance did not match that of the room. It obviously wasn't renovated along with the rest of the room; it actually felt like we were staying in 2 different rooms. Signs of age included rust and cracks. When staying here, be prepared for the mob scene in the lobby area. For a hotel that's this popular and busy, it's quite shocking that the lobby area isn't larger so that it can accommodate those waiting to check-in and those who just want a place to relax. At check-in time, it's almost impossible to navigate around large tour groups waiting to check in. And be prepared to encounter mainland Chinese tourists, who are quite loud and eccentric. Don't expect to have any kind of personal space when they're around. Unprepared for this, it was a relief when the line captain was kind enough to recognize that we weren't with these larger groups and were in fact "westerners." He actually directed us to the 15th floor to check-in with the "Executive" folks. That saved us from at least an hour of waiting and we were able to have lunch at the restaurant on the second floor, which was delicious.

Good location at decent price.Posted Nov 21, 2014
Fairly popular hotel in Shatin at a decent price. The bigger rooms are a little on the old side but still respectable. Great location.

close to many transportation facilitiesPosted Nov 21, 2014
Pros: Good size and many restaurants nearby
Cons: Hotel rewards do not extend to outside agents
Location: shopping and walking along river edge
It may be 3.5 or 4.0, depending on your personal preference and what you like. In general Hong Kong is rather congested and lots of people everywhere.

DisappointingPosted Nov 17, 2014
Hotel check-in was chaotic. There was a line for check-in and another for check-out. There were 3 staff at the counter. While waiting, I noticed that it averaged about 10-15 minute per customer. I was the fourth so it took me a good 45 min for my turn. The staff told me that I had to return the next morning for a second key cause they had run out. The next morning I lined up in the check-in line to get my second key. They had 2 staff dedicated to the check-out line and 1 for the check-in line. There were hardly anyone checking out at that time but the staff was so regimental that they totally ignored the long check-in line. The room size was adequate. The TV is hung up at the corner where the ceiling and the window/wall meet. There's no good spot to watch the TV without straining our heads. The walls and doors are paper thin. We could hear conversations in the hallway or next room. The floor is ceramic. We were "lucky" enough to have someone decided to walk around the room in their heels in the middle of the night above us.

The only place I would stay in Hong KongPosted Nov 14, 2014
Great location! Close proximity to restaurants and a few minutes to a giant mall and subway station! Comfortable stay as well! The only dowside is the free wifi is only good for 30 minutes everyday at the loby!
