Nice price, but not much more

Posted Oct 4, 2014
Pros: Reasonable well located.
Cons: Reception could be a fair bit more pleasant, as they were at another Silka "sister hotel".
Location: Mong Kok major locale in HK
The Silka Seaview was well-priced for HK, which is an expensive city to stay in, one of the most. I found this hotel to be fairly ordinary. It was professionally clean and tidy enough, but the layout of the room was not the best, and the lack of space was almost unmanageable for two people. However, that's how it is in a city like Hong Kong. "Nowhere to sit" for example. Only two places you can be, in the bathroom, or in bed. Or, third thing, preparing to leave the room. So, all this is not the fault of this hotel particularly.

Hotel is close to MTR

Posted Sep 22, 2014
Pros: Close proximity to MTR and eateries.
Cons: Staff's attitude and room cleanliness.
Have stayed in this hotel on a few occassions. I would reside in this hotel every time I'm back to HK due to its close proximity to many great eateries and the MTR. However this time round getting back to the hotel was just a great disappointment starting with the hotel check-in staff, to the cleanliness of the room I got. Check-in staff was unfriendly and spoke to me in good mandarin despite having conversed to him in English over the whole conversation. I understand that many mainlanders resides in the hotel, but that being said, staff should not assume that all "chinese looking guests" are able to comprehend and converse in mandarin? Checked in late and was given a musty dirty smelling room. Called for a change, however was informed that all double rooms are occupied. Why was the room not cleaned and vacuumed in the first place? The sink area was filled with mould, which was disgusting. This was the worse experience ever staying in Silka. Definitely the last.

Good location

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Perhaps bigger rooms....
Location: As mentioned above
Stayed for 4 nights. Room small but nice for 2 persons. Fantastic location for me. Lots of eating places and 3-5mins walk to Yau Ma Tei MTR. Request for late check-out and was granted. Hotel staff are friendly and offer assistance. Will choose to stay back at Silka Seaview Hotel again.

Good hotel for single traveller

Posted Sep 3, 2014
The hotel location is close to MTR and temple market. The check IN and checkout was quite smooth. Staff was quite welcoming and courtes. The rooms are quite small and cramped but it suited my requirement as I was alone . Rooms are clean and have all required basic facilities. Tge hotel has in-house cafeteria at 19th floor where breakfast is served. They provide good English breakfast. Overall I had a great stay for 3 days.

close to yau ma tei MTR

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: location is perfect --nice & clean
Cons: bedsheet cover should change to newer --looks old and thread welll worn
Location: downstairs street hawker food ---walk to Yau MA Tei MTR to access to other places for roast duck ---STANLEY street near lan kui fong ---name "YI LE"
location is perfect --walking 5 min to YAU MA TEI MTR --downstairs are selling ---but bedsheet cover should change to newer --looks so old --room is very small --enough to put cabin luggage only --suitable for Asian sizes ---bed is not good --you can feel the spring --pillow is so flat that your neck will be cramp ---suitable for 1-2 night only --also bathroom has sliding door but there is still big gap vent beside the glass partition that cannot closed completely, so if your partner is inside toilet dumping, (after days of eating HK delicious food) ---wow you can smell it in the room !!!! hahaahah ---lobby looks like 4 star hotel --good effort --overall is good if you can overlook small room for the price ---also FREE WIFI complimentary what a surprise !!

Totally enjoyed my stay as the hotel is cosy and near to everything you want for a HK holiday. Hotel staff should put on a smile and keep eye-contact :)

Perfect budget hotel for a few nights in Hong Kong

Posted Jul 5, 2014
It was a little difficult to find, as I hasn't really looked into it too much. However location was very central. Not the most glamorous neighbourhood, but it's all you need as you're minutes walk from the Yai Ma Tei MTR station so you can get to anywhere on the island with ease. Staff weren't friendly at all, didn't even get a smile out of them. But overall the stay was fine, and cleanliness was quite good.
