Wow!Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Everything...décor in rooms, location, staff.
Cons: Directions/lighted sign. I couldn't find it in the dark and had to go back to Hilo to get more detailed instructions. My GPS didn't pick it up.
Location: The property was elegant, but we also enjoyed the tiny Honomu with quaint shops, Botanical Gardens, and the Low Store for a quick bite and smoothies.
We were very impressed with the facilities and staff at Palms Cliff House. Waking up to beautiful ocean views was the culmination of our trip on the Big Island. Everyone was supper friendly and the breakfasts were excellent. The only negative was finding the location. The sign was easy to miss--especially at night and in the rain--when we arrived. Somewhere in the directions possibly a note could be added that it's on the right on Highway 19 before the 220 turn to Honomu or a light on the sign would have helped us greatly. But even with that confusing start, we were glad we finally found the Palms Cliff House and would stay there again.

Wonderful stay...wish it were longerPosted Jun 25, 2014
Just stayed overnight because we needed to go to the other side of the island the next day. Easy check in, quiet, beautiful retreat location, breakfast was awesome, and waking up to the sound of the ocean was refreshing. The only drawback was not having air conditioning on a summer night. The natural thing to do would be to open the sliding door, but I am deathly afraid of geckos and was afraid that they may creep into the room with the door open. Used the fan provided and it worked out just fine. A later check out time would be nice, too, although they were very accommodating and let us check out at 11:00am instead of the standard 10:00am. Overall, a wonderful place to stay. I'd go back for sure, and would recommend to my friends.

Charming B & BPosted Jun 22, 2014
We loved the Palms Cliff House Inn. Yes, the were frogs chirping at night and roosters crowed early in the morning. There was also a brilliant magical sunrise over the ocean, viewed through a sparkling curtain of rain. The next morning I saw dolphins frolicking in the bay. All of our needs were anticipated and filled before we asked. The whole place was lovely. The location was central for visiting the Waipio Valley and Muana Kea.

An oasis of tranquilityPosted Mar 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
The PCHI is an absolute gem! A small inn in a secluded setting, it is beautiful and well furnished with interesting collectibles. A large lanai off the room faces the ocean and the sound of the waves competes with that of the fountain in the koi pond. Breakfast on the main lanai is an unforgettable experience with friendly service and great food, even when Hilo's famous showers arrive. It is 10 miles from Hilo and well worth the easy drive - very close to 435' Akaka Falls. Both the spacious room and the grounds are very well maintained. We arrived after the office had closed for the day and checked ourselves in, but we immediately felt welcome and at home. This isn't the place for those looking for bars and lots of action or a pool, but otherwise you can't beat it. On a scale of 1 - 5, it's a 6 in our books, an all-time favourite.

Beautiful viewsPosted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: Small, pretty, and romantic.
Beautiful views from our balcony, great room and excellent breakfasts. The hotel is really more of a bed and breakfast and about a half hour drive north of Hilo. There are second floor rooms and no elevators, a challenge with luggage. No restaurants or shopping nearby. Hilo is not a tourist center, but close to the volcanoes and we found some great beaches.

quiet and relaxing stayPosted Nov 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a very pleasant stay for our honeymoon. The room was very clean, comfortable and private. We enjoyed the private lanai with ocean views. We also enjoyed the DVD and game collection. Its unfortunate that they charge $16 extra per person for breakfast.

Pros: The view
Cons: Better shower head, fix the television, free wi-fi but most of all great your guests with a lieu.
Location: Lovely location, view was stunning. Very close to waterfalls, botanical gardens, only hour drive to volcano national park.
I have mixed feelings about my stay at The Palms Cliff Inn. The building and view are great. The food was very good, the kitchen was wonderful in accommodating a food allergy. My problem is that for the price you pay I expected more. They did not greet you with a lieu (a detail that I was really looking forward too), you have to pay extra for Internet and the shower head was terrible. I have stayed in B&Bs at half the price and had a basket with bottles of water and cookies in the room. The little touches were just not here. Very disappointing.

You are roughly 20 feet from the cliff with views of the ocean. I slept with my window open & woke up to a beautiful sunrise. The room was very clean and comfortable.
