Friendly staffPosted Jul 2, 2014
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable. A great place to stop with your family. The pool however is a little dated but that's ok with Evans plunge down the street.

Visiting a VeteranPosted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: I like Best Western as a brand and have satisfying experiences with them.
Cons: A/C unit improvements and larger pool?
Location: We were about to see our Veteran within minutes of leaving the hotel and there were lots of things to do, but we ran out of time.
The hotel staff was exceptional. Our a/c until was unpredictable and did not function very well. It was a cool weekend, so it was not a dire issue. The room set up was strange with the sink next to the beds and no sink in the bathroom, but we adjusted to it. Over all pleasant,

Nice roomPosted Jun 3, 2014
The facility and the room were fine. It is situated near a delightful walking trail next to a mountain stream. They were understaffed the morning we were there such that even though they were giving their all breakfast was pretty rough.

Nice place to be on a snowy afternoon.Posted May 26, 2014
Pros: Pleasant location, nice amenities, large room.
Cons: Lobby and carpets could be modernized.
Location: Mammoth Museum, Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Monument (very worth visiting)! We loved Custer State Park!
We got caught in the Mother's Day storm and enjoyed getting to this hotel and hanging out by the pool and hot tub for the afternoon. The rooms are large and comfortable, the lobby could use some updating but it is clean and the staff are really nice. There is a computer for guest use in the lobby and the pool area is large and the hot tub was hot. The breakfast room is very nice and the food was good -- both hot and cold items available.

My husband and I stayed with our dog and it was very comfortable, the staff was friendly, the breakfast was just what we needed before hiking in custer. True theres a trailer community across the street but its not offensive or noisy at all. We didnt really check out the pool so no comment there. Its not luxury, you can sometimes hear the neighbors in adjoining rooms but its very good for what you pay and where its located. My husband, dog and I were very happy overall and would stay there again.

Nice hotel close to center centerPosted May 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
I thought the hotel was pretty nice, just lacked a little curb appeal and could have a better entrance. The check-in was easy and the staff was very nice. The hotel is located next to a civic center and across from mobile homes but it was a safe and decent neighborhood. It's less than 5 minutes from the center center and 15 minutes away from Wind Cave National Park. I stayed in a pet friendly room (#105) and thought it was meticulously well-kept. It smelled fresh and clean, was very spacious and very comfortable. It had all the necessary toiletries, hair dryer, coffee maker, etc. even a microwave and fridge. I liked the that it had plenty of counterspace for my stuff also. The only thing I did not like was the bulky clunky key system (vs. a standard flat keycard). I hated carrying that thing in my pocket. I love that the hotel is a pet friendly hotel and there was plenty of grass area in the back/side of the hotel for my pet to walk. I only wished they had kept the mutt mitt bags loaded. Breakfast was very good and well stocked. Overall, I would definitely stay at this hotel again and I'd give it 4.4/5.0

The hotel was a little smelly, and everything seemed cheap. The pool was too small and too cold; not shallow enough for my 4yr old to really enjoy playing. Otherwise, the stay was nice and in a convenient location to hit local attractions. The buffett syle breakfast in the AM was okay; nothing special, but it got the job done. The staff did a great job of meeting needs. After I mentioned the pool was too cold, the, what I assume to be the manager/owner, tested the temperature then tunred it up a few degrees for us. I am diabetic and woke up in the middle of the night (around 1:00am) seeking food because of a low blood-sugar, and the overnight attendant was VERY KIND in getting me some food/drink and sat and talked with me for a short while. I very much appreciated the extra attention.

Slow check-inPosted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Not much.
They could not find my confirmation fax, and it took them about15 minutes to finally figure out that my reservation was legit. All this time, we were standing around, or trying to chase down our almost 4 year old daughter who was touching everything in the lobby. They could have made a simple phone call to Expedia and asked them to refax the confirmation. Everything else was average.
