“Great location”

Due to the age of this hotel, the condition of it was rather "dated". I'm hearing that mostly all of the local hotels in the downtown area(The Arlington) are no different. The staff were quite helpful when questions were asked and quite friendly as well. Great location and no driving was needed in terms of finding things to do as well as places to eat. We'll stay again .............

“Not a bad stay”

The room was very comfortable. It was clean except for the carpet which was very wore down. The mountain veiw balcony was not impressive. It overlooked the parking lot. The parking lot was in the back of the hotel and you had to walk all the way around to the front to go inside. Needless to say, since it was in the old town district I did not feel very safe walking to the door of the hotel. I'm sure this hotel was very impressive in its day and with a little bit of renovation can become the grand lady she once was.

“Not Bad”

My husband and I stayed here last week while on a short vacation. The location was nice, there was a lot within walking distance. The halls did have a musty smell to them and the parking lot was farther from the hotel than I would have liked, but the room itself was nice. (By the way, the "mountain view" rooms that are so inexpensive over look a parking lot and some trees - not that attractive, but not a breaking point.) The restaurant downstairs had just opened a few days prior to our visit, and the bartender and the food were both terrific. There was a lot of construction going on in the hotel, so hopefully that means they're working on some renovations. All in all, I'd say it wasn't too bad, but we would probably stay somewhere newer next time.

“Downtown Hotel and Spa”

June 2007, friend and I stayed here for the weekend. We had to use the same towels the entire time we were there... they 'ran out.' I will say that the spa experience was good, expect an old spa, but nice attendants and service. Also, there was a motorcycle rally that weekend, we were right next to Central Ave. and bikes with altered mufflers zoomed past our window until past 3 a.m. My bed leaned to the left.

“Street Noise Hotel”

The Hotel was in a good location. It was hard to sleep at night due to street noise. Free Parking was available in an insecure area up a steep incline. The employees of the hotel were very courteous and friendly.

“Got what I need...a place to sleep”

My time here was where I slept... I wanted time away to be by myself and found that here. I read that the hotel had been recently renovated, I couldn't tell. BUT I know that this hotel is old as dirt and expected as much. It was what I need somewhere clean to sleep. The parking was inconvenient for me because it was up a hill and hard for me to walk due to a sports injury.

“not a bad hotel but could use updating”

One employee at check in was quite a jerk, but i waold not let him ruin our honeymoon. If you are a smoker, you are confined to the third floor with a wall of a mountain for a mountain view or a parking lot or busy street. To enjoy a "mountain view" , you really need to go to the top floors. They were also not receptive at all to the fact of expedia. I almost felt like i was held at a lower status because i used expedia. Discounted rates..i get it, but they got a room rented when they may have been stuck with a vacent room. Get real. Anyways, it is not much more than what you would expect from a private owned older hotel trying to find a way to make it. As for hot springs itself...YOU MUST GO...absolutly beautiful and very friendly.

“Old, loud, not good.”

The hotel, despite a renovation is old and run down. We received a room on the 9th floor with a mountain view. The entire floor and room smelled like cat urine. We changed to a room on the 7th floor that smelled better. The clerk was also able to switch us to a king room. The desk clerks were always friendly and helpful. The room was large but the furniture was mismatched. The bathroom is tiny and dominated by a large open top (no lid, just the seat) industrial toilet. The toilet produces a loud WHOOOSH when flushed, think locker room type flush. If you are going to renovate why wouldn't you install a more modern toilet? The room was very loud. You could hear the people and toilets in the adjoining rooms. There is a lot of road noise in the room despite being on the back side of the hotel. Every morning large trucks would drive through the back and wake everyone up with the beeping back up alarms. The parking area is behind the hotel and a short walk up the street. Towels in the bathroom were thin and small. No safe in the room, no refrigerator in the room either. Bed was comfortable. Closest ice machine was one floor down. Good location if you WANT to be in downtown. Skip the italian restaurant (Brunos) in the hotel, food was good, but service and atmosphere are severely lacking. Go to J&S Italian Villa on Lake Hamilton instead. We will go back to Hot Springs again but won't stay at the Springs/Downtowner.
