Brandon
Brandon is a residential suburb that lies east of downtown. Nearby, blue-ribbon agriculture is on display annually at the Florida State Fairgrounds. South of Brandon in Apollo Beach, manatees flock by a waterside power plant when the water temperature cools. The aquatic mammals are best seen at Tampa Electric’s Manatee Viewing Center, which is also a haven for butterflies and birds.

Busch Gardens
Located in northeast Tampa, Busch Gardens is one of Florida’s top attractions, combining both wild rides and wildlife. The amusement park features 10 roller coasters and more than 2,000 animals. Other nearby family-friendly venues include the Museum of Science and Industry and Lowry Park Zoo. The University of South Florida is north of Busch Gardens. On campus, the Sun Dome hosts big concerts.

Downtown Tampa
Towers and massive tourist draws dominate Tampa’s waterfront. This area includes the convention center, cruise ship terminals, St. Pete Times Forum, The Florida Aquarium, and the Channelside Bay Plaza entertainment district. Across the palm-lined Hillsborough River, University of Tampa’s Moorish architecture sits in contrast of modern downtown. Nearby, historic Ybor City is Tampa’s Latin Quarter.

Wesley Chapel
Named in honor of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, Wesley Chapel is a north Tampa suburb that consists of several master-planned subdivisions. The area features several parks and golf courses. Although the area’s agricultural roots are still visible, new neighborhoods and shopping centers now rise from former farmland.

Westshore
With more than 6,000 hotel rooms, Westshore is one of Tampa’s premier tourist areas. This neighborhood includes the Tampa International Airport and Raymond James Stadium, home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Westshore Plaza, International Plaza, and Bay Street shopping centers compete for consumers. In east Westshore, mansions and condominium towers line Bayshore Boulevard’s scenic drive.
