“Central Location”

You cannot get any closer if you will be using the Victoria Rail or Coach Station. I kind of liked the feel of turning back the clock as this hotel has not been renovated for quite some time but I understood why my teenage daughter wasn't too enthused with that. We were in London for a concert and its central location was a big plus.

“Slept like a baby with the window open :-)”

Staff was very friendly, room was small but expected - it felt a bit like staying at grandma's house. Ordered room service one night and it was surprisingly impressive and very reasonably priced. Great value for the money, location is fantastic!

“Great Hotel and great location.”

Very nice hotel. They tend to up-sell the rooms. My reservation did not indicate that the room did NOT have A/C. I elected to upgrade to have that. The upgrade was a nuisance and left a small negative feeling for the experience. ASIDE from that, the hotel was great, the staff was great, the room was great, and the location is amazing.

“perfect location for vacationers”

Quick ride in on Gatwick Express right into Victoria Station. Hotel lobby has entrance to station. Tube stop right behind hotel. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Less than 10 minute walk to Buckingham Palace. Five minute walk to Golden Tours Bus station (Grayline Tours) for all kinds of tours of the city and countryside. Theater within walking distance. Felt perfectly safe walking around neighborhood at night. Couldn't have asked for a better location. Staff very helpful. Room a tad small--but wasn't in London to spend time in the room.

“The Grosvenor (Thistle Victoria)”

I stayed at this hotel twice in late July and again in early August, traveling to Wales in the middle of my trip. This hotel was perfect for a woman traveling alone, and on my return trip with my daughter. You can access the hotel from inside the Victoria Station train/underground station. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel. There are several reasonably priced restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk. The Apollo Theatre (Wicked) and the Victoria theater (Billy Elliott)are right behind the hotel. There is a Marks & Spencer "just food", open 24 hours, and a drugstore, both inside Victoria Station. Buckingham Palace, St. James Park, Green Park, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, etc. were just a few blocks up the street. It was easy to walk to so many places. The hotel is an older building with an old-fashioned elegance that you don't see in modern hotels. Beautiful moldings, chandeliers, huge long windows. The rooms vary in size. During my first stay, I was in a very spacious room with 2 twin beds, a sitting area, a large walk-in closet and a large, narrow bath. This room was not air-conditioned, but it did have a ceiling fan and I was very comfortable. During my 2nd stay, with my daughter, our room was considerably smaller, but still very efficient and very clean. This room was air conditioned. I recommend The Grosvenor (Victoria Thistle) to anyone planning a trip to London.

“A gem to stay in London”

This was an old, but charming hotel. Fantastic location with backdoor exit to Victoria Station and it's amenities like the food court. When the desk clerk learned we were celebrating our anniversary, he upgraded us from a standard room to excutive king. That was a treat!

“Location, Location”

Being next to Victoria station is a real plus in terms of accessing mass transit. Walking distance to alot. Rooms are very small with barely enough room to open a suit case, but that's London for you.

“Location, location, location”

Right above the Victoria station - can't beat the location. Perfect for someone who is planning on sightseeing and wants the convenience of train, tube and bus nearby. Onsite restaurant serves a lovely french menu. If you are looking for a hotel room experience, this is not your spot. Room is small but comfortable - perfect for the traveler who wants a place to sleep at night but not for someone who likes lounging all day in the room.
