“Beats sleeping in the car, barely”
We stayed here for the Charlotte NASCAR race. This was not the worst hotel I ever stayed in, but it was close. It is old, dingy, smelly, musty - pretty much any negative you can think of. It's in a bad neighborhood, it's dirty, and smells of cigarette smoke. The elevator is a scary ride, if you have a big SUV you'll probably get stuck in the tiny parking deck, and the access is poor because it's on a divided highway with a median. (You have to drive a couple miles out of the way, go down a street, make a U-turn, get back on the highway and drive back a mile or so just to get into the parking lot.) There is no hairdryer, they didn't put any coffee out for the coffee maker, they are stingy with the towels and toiletries (our first day we had one wash cloth for two people and were told there weren't any more, despite the fact the hotel was nowhere near full), and I've been in closets bigger than the bathroom. (I ran out of COLD water before hot, if you can believe that.) When the maid came by the next day as we were leaving for the race we asked for more towels and some coffee. When we got back that's all we had gotten! She didn't even make the bed or empty the trash. The only good thing? The front desk guy (who didn't speak English) gave me a bag of muffins when we checked out. Don't even think about staying here unless you are truly desperate. And maybe not even then.
