“Great for the money”

Keep in mind we were visiting in the off-off season, so things could be very different when the hotel is full. There were only about 20 of us there all week! The hotel was clean and well-maintained. We saw gardeners and pool cleaners on a daily basis, and they cleaned the beach every morning. We had the superior beach front, and we walked right out onto sand. Our room was cleaned everyday by noon. The bed (king) had a wonderful soft down comforter. While the room may be a little small, it had a nice sized patio with table, chairs, and a lounger. I think because there were so few guests, the hotel was understaffed. We had trouble finding a bartender, and the water sports desk was never open. (We just went looking for someone). Also, the front desk was less than helpful in ANY regard - from our lost luggage, to cabs, to directions, to entertainment ideas, etc. We really felt on our own for everything. Luckily we could roll with this, but some people may feel put out. We had the all inclusive meal package, the food was awesome. Great selection for each meal, the main dishes changed daily. We felt spoiled by the great service. Overall, it is a nice small hotel with a beautiful beach. We would definately stay there again.

“Nice, quiet”

This was a great resort for our honeymoon trip. Quiet, good service, nice room, great beach. Tends to be an older crowd so don't expect a party atmosphere. Good snorkeling at one end of the beach. Recommend renting a car or taking the bus to get around, as cabs get expensive given the hotel's location on the island. Food's quite good, especially the fish. Go all-inclusive.

“Great Budget Hotel”

We were very impressed with the staff, service, location and amenities of this hotel. It is small and little dated, but it is on a beautiful, long beach with great swimming access. The food on the all-inclusive plan was better than we expected. We had a few tremendous meals and only one part of one meal was disappointing (don't order the French Onion soup or caesar salad). The rest of the meals were very good to excellent. The fresh catch of the day was always great as were the soups(except for the one noted above). Ths hotel is relatively small and a little isolated, but the bus fare to St. John's is only around $3 return and stops right outside the hotel gate. The sunsets were spectacular. We had very good live entertainment 5 out of the 7 nights we were there. Lots of dancing and fun was enjoyed by all. We will definitely go back.

“A peaceful vacation with a wonderful beach”

The Blue Heron is a well-kept secret; it is an extremely well-maintained hotel with an absolutely pristine beach, that we had almost to ourselves at certain times. We traveled in the beginning of June and although there were other hotel guests, it was very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely return.

“Relaxing Stay”

The Blue Heron Resort is located in a remote area of Antigua on a beautiful beach. We booked the superior room which had a patio overlooking the pool & a partial ocean view. The staff was amongst the friendliest we've encountered in the Caribbean. We did the all-inclusive option. Our room was very clean although there was a problem with water leaking through the ceiling from above the shower, but they repaired it. We had no problem with water pressure and always had hot water. There was a small frig in the room. Air conditioner could have been colder but the ceiling fan also did a good job keeping the room cool. This is a basic hotel but staff is working to improve it. Food selection somewhat limited but we definitely didn't go hungry. There's entertainment a few nights a week. We had a rental car and drove the 4 miles to a casino every evening. Be careful driving. It's on the left and the dark winding roads at night were tricky, mainly because the locals seem to drive very fast, and in the middle of the road with their high beams on. Mosquitoes are abundant at the resort, and it's all open-air dining so bring your spray from home. Please boycott the jet-ski rental guy on the beach. He's so cruel to the poor stray, but friendly beach dogs in the area and seriously injured one until he was stopped by guests at the resort.

“Excellent location on a fantastic golden beach”

This hotel represents excellent value for money. Remember it is not a 5 sar hotel - however the location is! (on a fansastic beach). The staff are friendly and the all inclusive package recommended as value for money.

“Very Relaxing Atmosphere”

I spent four days in Antigua and didn't leave the Resort at any time to go sight seeing or anything else.I needed some Rest and Relaxation and got exactly that at the Blue Heron. If I am ever in Antigua again my "home" will be The Blue Heron by Rex Resorts.

“Hotel has deteriorated”

We visited in 2001. Good medium class hotel. Excellent service, location etc. which prompted us to return. Unfortunately no maintenance appears to have been carried out since our last trip. No hot water, A/C not working, very small bed etc Staff helpful and changed our room which wasn't a lot better. Their attitude was 'you only get what you pay for'. Food and entertainment very good. Certainly return to the island but not this hotel.
