“A wonderful find”

4th Time in San Francisco & I finally cracked it hotel wise. Wonderful location right in the middle of all the action, spotless & well cared for rooms and warm & welcoming staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Fantastic budget hotel in the heart of San Fran!”

I'd read the Tripadvisor reviews on this hotel and we'd set our expectations that this IS a budget hotel right at that start. I booked 2 adjoining rooms with a double and queen bed with a shared bathroom for 2 couples. I'd requested for a rooms away from street noise on a high floor and got exactly that. Both rooms had built-in-robes unlike some of the complaints from other travelers. Rooms were clean and comfortable and with some city views on the high floor. Shower pressure was good and water was hot, just right to relieve aching backs from shopping and walking all day. We didn't have a fridge so requested for one. The fridge was in our room by the next day. The rooms didn't have air-con but we requested for a fan and that was brought up immediately. Of course location is right in the heart of everything. Just a perfect stay and will definitely return!

“great price & great location”

i planned a very spur of the moment road trip to san francisco and had to find a hotel for three people. i found the herbert which offered two rooms with a bathroom in between both rooms. the location is right on powell street in the union square area. i know that it can be a noisy area but it ended up being perfect becuz we were up on the top floors. no street noise at all. the rooms were spacious and so clean!!!!!!!!! the price without tax was so worth it for both rooms which is unheard of for sf.i even called the hotel for the same price but could't get the same deal as expedia. super close to the muni to make it easy to get around the city. i plan staying there for my future visits.

“It was nice and comfortable”

This hotel was nice and the room was a very comfortable environment. The hallways of the hotel had different shades of paint and didnt look to great and the floor of the room was a little uneven but it is a historical hotel and these things didnt ruin the trip at all. Overall the hotel room I had was nice and lived up to the price.

“Great for our family”

We were looking for a value hotel in downtown San Francisco for my husband and myself and 3 teenagers. We were able to get 3 adjoining rooms with just the right number of beds at an affordable price. The hotel is just up from the cable car turnaround - lots of activity on the street. The lobby contains a Mexican grill (which also served breakfast) which fed our teenagers several times. Next door is a Walgreen's and across the street is a Starbuck's - everything you need is right there. Did I mention that the BART station is also right at the corner and there are Muni stops close by. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The shower was excellent and they had good towels. It is not a luxury hotel, but we were not expecting one.

“convenient location and friendly staff”

The hotel was still being remodeled(especially the lobby), but personally I loved the atomosphere of the room, and enjoyed my stay there. There's a drug store right next door, and the cable cars were running right in front of the hotel. Not the most luxurious hotel in SF, but I think that a lot of girls would love that hotel for its cuteness just like I did.

“great location and greaat price”

Excellent location that was easy to find. Shared the three room option with four friends and it worked out perfectly. I will go back there again with my family.

“Great Location - Don't Get a Room by the Street”

Super location. Jumped off the Bart from the airport at Powell St. then two blocks down and we were there. The staff was great. They held our luggage on the last day after check out since the plane did not leave until 8pm (thank you). Room was small but nice. Ours unfortunately was facing Powell Street. It was noisy all night: traffic, garbage trucks, music. Had a hard time sleeping, you could hear everything. At 4am someone in the other room was on their cell and you could hear every word. Do not know if the rooms on the back side were better, but I would request one next time. I would definitely stay there again. There is a Walgreen next door and a Starbucks across the street. The visitors center is right at Powell and Market (2 blocks up). The neighborhood was good. Did not feel scared walking around a night, which is why I read all the review before selecting this hotel.

“Good for One Night--Not Long Stay”

I had to book a hotel at the last minute and this was one of the cheapest ones I could find in SFO itself. It was very clean, but the room was very small, especially for two people. Good part was that it was in the heart of downtown so very convenient.

“Great Location - Stuffy Room”

We are a family of 5. It was great having 3 interconnected rooms big enough to house us together and in such a convenient central location. The room was very clean but extremely hot. It was mid October when we were there but for whatever reason the rooms, and the entire floor, seemed very stuffy.
