“Excellent traditional hotel.”
The hotel was very nice -- very good staff, lovely surroundings, and in the rooftop restaurant and breakfast room excellent food and service. It was near the cruise dock where we boarded our cruise ship (Regent Seven Seas). Our dinner at the rooftop restaurant was memorable -- great chateaubriand, excellent service and very good wines--a meal to remember in a most pleasant way.
“A wonderful experience.”
This was our second stay at the Classic Savoy. We were not disappointed. We loved the old-fashioned elegance of this hotel, the comfort of our room, superb breakfasts and polished, unobtrusive service given by the friendly and highly professional staff. We had booked a mountain view room, but on arrival we were given a free up-grade to a sea view room as the hotel was fairly quiet. We used the indoor and outdoor pools at the Royal Savoy to which guests at the Classic Savoy have full access. One of the outdoor pools is heated (very welcome in March). We are told that the Classic Savoy will, sadly, be demolished later this year, so don't miss what may be the last chance to stay at this wonderful hotel.
“nicer than royal savoy”
this hotel is apparently going to to knocked down. this is a bewildering decision because its much nicer than the supposedly better royal savoy. renew some of the fixtures and fittings and flatten the royal savoy would be my advice.
“A very pleasant Easter stay”
The Classic, with access to the Royal, made for a very pleasant Easter week. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would note that it is the facilities at the Royal which really make the difference. Their pool area with heated pool (or it certainly was very warm!) which looks out to the sea was superb. Being able to use both hotels meant there was a choice of indoor pool - which was very good given that it rained for a couple of days. My only gripe: the sauna in both hotels was not working for the second half of the week despite informing them over days this was the case. Other than that, they work hard to provide a positive experience.
“Good holiday”
Hotel bedrooms seamed slightly tired in decoration and bathroom fittings, but hotel being reconstucted next year. Service and staff exellent. Swimming pools and areas indoors and out very clean and well kept. Restaraunts in both Savoy Classic and Royal are well worth visiting.
“A classic hotel ,possibly from a bygone age.”
Bearing in mind this hotel is to be destroyed after this season we were very impressed - especially at the price. Breakfasts were very good, but maybe the "Themed Evenings" could be missed.
“Comfortable hotel in a great situation.”
Good facilities. Near to the town overlooking the sea. Restaurants were good - preferred a la carte menus to the buffet menus.
“Great Value for a 5* hotel!”
I and my husband and son returned a couple of days ago very satisfied with our holiday. We knew the hotel would be wonderful as it was "The Savoy" after all. I must admit, The Royal Savoy which is adjacent to the Classic Savoy was more impressive. We used the pools there as hey were much larger. The staff at The Savoy were so friendly and I thought there would be a language problems but their English is fluent. The only problem we experienced was the quality of our bed. The pillows were feather filled which brought on my asthma and the mattresses were not supportive at all which lead to a minor backache. The breakfast and dinner buffets were the best I've ever had and I've put 3 pounds on! They offered babysitting service for 15 euros an hour which isn't bad but we decided not to in the end. The hotel is close to the town but be prepared to walk up-hill on the way back. Of course you can opt fot a taxi. There are millions of them and they're quite cheap and have friendly drivers. All in all, a great, relaxing and fun holiday. Enjoy The Savoy!
“Keeping up appearances”
The first thing to remember is that the Classic Savoy is going to close for total refurbishment to 6-Star level, so there are bound to be signs of ageing and small blemishes in decor and cosmetic maintenance as closing time approaches. That said, the hotel is comfortable, well-located and the service is good ( although some of the staff appear to be working towards retirement when the hotel closes). Food at breakfast is plentiful and varied, but somewhat bland because the hotel is trying to satisfy so many nationalities. Lunches at the Royal Savoy poolside restaurant are a pleasant experience. The "upmarket" Grill Room at the Classic Savoy serves good food and the service is attentive but the restaurant lacks "atmosphere", people talked in hushed tones, there was no laughter and the whole operation takes itself too seriously. Front desk staff, Concierge and Doormen were all helpful, pleasant and polite. As with any hotel, you get what you pay for and if you want a comfortable room, pleasant service and a fair range of facilities in a setting of slightly faded grandeur, the Classic Savoy is very reasonable value for money.
“I would go to this hotel again.”
I enjoyed staying here very much. Very charming hotel. Service was excellent, food was good, lots of things to do within the hotel.
